BOOK REVIEW for "Just for You (Rocktown Ink, #6)" by Sherilee Gray

Just for You
(Rocktown Ink, #6)

by Sherilee Gray

After one hot night together, I thought Addison Belle was finally mine. I was wrong.

She’s made it clear she’s not interested in more. Until a night out drinking has her revealing her true feelings. Addie still wants me. Only something’s holding her back. I should leave her alone. She’s too young, too sweet, but I can’t give her up.

So when she passes out drunk in my truck, I do what I have to. I take her home with me to the mountains. She knows the inked-up biker, but she doesn’t know the mountain man—or the part of me capable of fulfilling every raw and dirty fantasy she’s ever had.

I see the pain in her gorgeous eyes, her need to escape. Addie’s silently begging for someone to hold her down, to stop her spinning out of control—and I’m the man to do it, whatever it takes.

*****(5) out of 5 Stars

This book is billed as #6 in the Rocktown Ink series, but it is also essentially #4 in the Smith Brothers.  Turns out that Manic (or Levi, as he prefers to be called by Addie) is another cousin of Cash, Beau and Hank.

Much like Beau, Manic felt the need to leave the isolated mountains where they were born and raised, but that didn't stop it from being home.  Since he is returning there for the first visit in ages, and needs a plus one, who better to drag along than Addie.  He figures he can work on her resolve to keep him at a distance while they are at it.  Only things don't go exactly to plan, not for any of it.

Much like all of the Smith men, once Levi finds his true love, he is all in!  Even though it proves a lot tougher than he had anticipated.  Not only does he love and adore Addie, but he fulfills her in ways that she could have only dreamed about.  While totally being a big, tough, dominant dude, he is also all about pleasure and  (other than a little bit of kidnapping) consent, all of which is such a turn-on.

But Addie is messed up in ways that Manic never even considered.  And while her ideas are understandable, they certainly aren't reasonable or justified.  Even though she knows this logically, it takes an awful lot for her to finally see reason.

In the meantime, however, Manic waits for her!  Like, waits and waits and waits.  That is most definitely the hottest thing of all, in my opinion.  And it makes him totally worthy of the love and trust that she finally bestows upon him.

RELEASE BLITZ & BOOK REVIEW for "Bad for You (Rocktown Ink, #4)" by Sherilee Gray

Bad For You
(Rocktown Ink, #4)
by Sherilee Gray

The first time I saw Lila Cooper, I vowed to make her mine.
She was dangerous—those big brown eyes saw far more in me
than a biker good with his fists. Far more than I wanted her to see.

But I had to let her go. My screwed-up family destroys everything they touch,
and my club sent me to clean up my brother's mess. I couldn't risk Lila getting hurt.
So I hurt her instead, the woman who owned my heart.

Now she's determined to forget me. But I'll do anything for a second chance,
even reveal the scars on my soul...

~ BOOK REVIEW for Bad for You ~

****(4) out of 5 Stars

I was so excited when I heard about this book coming out!  I'd thought the last chapter, Meant for You, was the end of the line for the Rocktown Ink crew.  I was very glad to learn that I was wrong!  And Riff was one of those who I was especially concerned about, so it was great to discover what became of him.

I was somewhat confused at the beginning of the book by all of the different names: Lila, Riff, Jesse, Bambi, Grifter.  It was all a bit confusing at first.

Watching the relationship develop between Jesse and Lila, two seemingly very different people from totally different walks of life, but who were just made for each other, was delightful.  Especially when it was just the two of them together, they really clicked.

However, as is often the case in such situation, there was an awful lot of outside influence that was very seldom condusive to their relationship.  This story contained an awful lot of angst and drama, way more sadness than I prefer in my stories.  But it was nice to see the somewhat offsetting support that each of the main characters received from their tribes when they needed it.  Luckily, their ending was ultimately a happy one, although it took a long, hard road to get there.

BOOK REVIEW for "Meant For You (Rocktown Ink #3)" by Sherilee Gray

SUMMARY

At twelve years old, I was torn from my family.

At fourteen I met her: my reason to draw breath.

One look into Everly Williams's big brown eyes and I knew I’d do anything to protect her. And for eight years I did. She was my world. My best friend.

But afraid I'd lose her, I held on too tight. Became a dark cloud blocking her sun. So I did what I needed to, and walked away. I hurt us both.

Now I’m home, and need Everly back in my life. Only everything is different. We’re different. My body burns for her when she’s near. And after one explosive kiss, I know she feels it too. I’ll do whatever it takes to earn her trust again.

Because I don’t want what we had before. I want it all... for a lifetime.

~ BOOK REVIEW for Meant for You ~

****(4) out of 5 Stars!

We first meet Dane as the annoying "little" brother in Beg for You when Cal kicks him out of Rocktown Ink because he insulted Cassy.  We continue to get glimpses of him in the rest of that novel and also in Sin for You, culminating in his leaving town to and put some distance between himself and Everly.

He's afraid that his overprotective tendancies when it comes to her are causing a rift that might not be overcome.  When, however, it is his leaving that nearly does them in.  Oh, and the fact that he remains away for a year and a half, without even letting anyone tell her where he is or how he's doing.

Everly is understandably pissed when he rather suddently returns, and expects to pick up their relationship as if nothing had happened.  She does act a tad childish about the entire thing though, even running away from him at one point.

Eventually, she finally gives in and agrees to listen to his side of things.  And although she understands his reasoning intelectually, emotionally she's still really hurt.  It does take her some time to start to trust him again, but there's so much between them that of course she eventually forgives him.

Both Dane and Everly want more from their relationship now than just being friends.  Truth be told, they probably always have.  But they both are reluctant to acknowledge that, even to themselves.  Of course, everyone in their sphere of influence has known it for years, so it's almost humorous that these two come so late to the party.  But they do finally get there.

The development of their actual dating relationship is darling.  These two are so perfect together that it is just a joy to watch.  There's a chemistry between them that practically comes right off the page, making their love scenes extra spicy and fun.

I did not like how things transpired at the near end.  It really bothered me that Everly gave her aunt so much leeway in manipulating and lying to her.  And the way that she left things with Dane of course scared him to death.  Luckily, he didn't do anything too stupid though; well, other than almost get himself killed in a boxing match.  I was happy with the small nod to mental health assistance that was finally utilized by Dane to overcome some of his anger and other long-standing issues.  And I was elated that he and Everly were able to work through their issues and come out on the other side as an even stronger couple.

I was disappointed that we didn't get to see more of a resolution for some of the minor players, such as Riff.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire Rocktown Ink series though, and hate to see it end!

~ BOOK REVIEW for Sin for You ~

****(4) out of 5 Stars!

I adored Bull when we first encountered him in the preceding novel, Sin for You.  There we got just a few glimpses of his big, growly, overprotective, hot self.  And there was so much more of him to admire here.  Plus, since this is an alternating point-of-view tale between Bull and Quinn, we get some insight into his thoughts as well, not just his actions.  The poor guy has got some serious baggage, the after effects of having a horrible, verbally and emotionally abusive mother.  Not to mention his low self-esteem after having done time when younger, from making some bad choices while trying to provide for his cousins Cal & Dane and their grandma.  But despite all that, he just comes across as a big sweetheart, in part from many of the present day things he does to help Quinn, not to mention some of her first memories of him from their childhood.  And he is totally smitten with Quinn, even before he realizes it himself.

Quinn is even more of a hot mess than is Bull, if that's possible.  She just got off the latest of a series of bad relationships with total losers, blaming herself for all of them.  She comes home to lick her wounds, and hide out from her "real" life.  But also to be close to the one person in the world who makes her feel safe: Bull.  Even though she is convinced that he thinks of her only as an unwanted and annoying little sister.

This is most definitely a slow burn love story!  The two have harbored feelings for one another for ages, from months to years even; and it is several chapters in before they even get together.  Once they decide to consumate their non-relationship, they then face any number of unusual circumstances that thwart their attempts to get frisky.  When they do get together finally, it is hot and heavy and oh so sweet.

I really didn't like the extreme yo-yo aspect of their relationship, however.  First one was in, then the other, but rarely at the same time.  I know it is all part of the angst to build the drama and suspense, but come on!  They went back and forth so much in their feelings and intentions that I felt as though I got whiplash just from following their story.  I would much rather have seen them together a whole lot more.  Just get on the same page already!  Still, the end was definitely a good one though.

It was nice to see Cal and Cassy a bit again in this tale, as well as Dale, to at least hear some about Everly, and to meet Quinn's brother Mason.  I did think that his break-up was an unnecessary distraction though.  And the epilogue wasn't even about Bull & Quinn!  Yeah, sure, it is setting up the next book for Dale and Everly's story, which I am definitely excited to read; but I wanted more Bull & Quinn still!  All in all though, another great addition to one of my recent favorite series.

Excerpt:

Quinn

I turned the handle and let the heavy wood swing open. Bull looked up from whatever he was working on, and, yeah, he looked surprised to see me at his door. He hadn’t expected me to seek him out today, definitely wasn’t expecting me to apologize or try and make things right between us. And didn’t that just make me feel like the biggest jerk in existence.

I stepped over the threshold. “You got a minute?”

“Kinda busy,” he muttered.

Yep, he was pissed with me. “This won’t take long.”

He sighed, dropped his pen, and sat back in his seat, all big and gorgeous—and surly. I wanted to climb in his lap and wrap myself around him.

Stop it!

“Look, Bull…what I said last night…” What? How could I make it right? I hadn’t really planned this out, I just knew I hated the way we’d left things. Yes, I needed distance from him, but I never wanted to hurt his feelings. Or make him feel shitty for being protective of me, no matter how misguided at times. It was the last thing I wanted. God, I’d felt sick about it since he walked out of the gallery. “I shouldn’t have said what I did, not like that.”

“All good, Quinn. Message received,” he said, expression going utterly blank.

I hated that look on his face. Hated it. I closed the door behind me and stepped farther into the room. I had to be honest with him, to make him understand. I couldn’t bring myself to leave things as they were, and I couldn’t bear to have him think badly of me.

I took a steadying breath. “Look, it’s no secret that I’ve had some… well, shitty luck where men and relationships are concerned. Like really shitty.” Luck had nothing to do with it, but I didn’t want to dig up all my dark, painful truths right then, not with Bull, not with anyone. I crossed my arms. “I’m done with relationships, with finding that perfect someone crap. Like, so done.” I made myself meet his gaze. “But I’m the kind of girl who likes affection, being close with another person.” I shrugged. “I like sex.”

Bull shifted in his seat, his frown deepening.

“Yes, I’m extremely… attracted to you, obviously.” I lifted my hands, stopping him before he could say anything, before he could reject me all over again. “It’s fine. I know you don’t feel that way about me. But you need to know that eventually, I will find someone to meet my… needs.” I motioned to him. “I’m sure you have women lined up when you need… that.” Yep, this was awkward as hell. “Well, I’m a one-man kind of woman, even if it’s just a sexual thing, you know? Even if it’s just some fun. The reason I’m telling you this is I respect you, as a friend, but I will meet someone, and I need you to be okay with it because you’re important to me.”

His graze had grown insanely intense, but I pushed on.

“So I guess I’m asking you to trust me to take care of myself, and to trust that if I’m in over my head, or need help, I will come to you. Are you cool with that?”

Bull made a weird sound and stood suddenly, his chair scraping on the wooden floor. That’s when I noticed how heavily his chest was rising and falling.

His nostrils flared, and he shook his head just once.

I blinked at him. What now? “No?”

“No,” he repeated on a near snarl. “I’m not fucking cool with that.”

“What do you mean no?” I said, shock clear in my voice.

“Come here,” he said instead of answering my question. “Now.”

Title: Beg For You
Series: Rocktown Ink, #1
Author: Sherilee Gray
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 11, 2019

Ten years. Ten endless years I've waited to destroy the man who tore my family apart. But I never thought I'd get the chance... until his daughter walked into my tattoo parlour, looked me in the eye — and had no damned clue who I was.

I never planned on falling for Cassandra Deighton. She's silk scarves and manicures. I'm scars and rage. Yet I can't resist when she begs for more, my ice queen who burns with enough heat to sear the soul.

I need to end this. Before she finds out who I am. Before she gets hurt.

But I'm not the only one with secrets. We both have our scars, and if the truth comes out, we could lose everything…

~ BOOK REVIEW for Beg for You ~

*****(5) out of 5 Stars!

Oh, my gosh!  I freaking LOVED this book!  It may be my new favorite...at least of Sherilee Gray's...or at least one of them.  (Okay, Breaking Him and Mountain Man are still going to be strong contenders for that top spot, but this story is right up there with them!)  I've enjoyed every one of her books since I stumbled upon the first one about a year and a half ago, but this tale was just exquisite.

From the moment of their first interaction, Cal has Cassy at a distinct disadvantage.  Much of that is due to the fact that he instantly knows who she is, while she doesn't recognize him from their shared past.  But is also attribuable to the definite Beauty and the Beast vibe of their narrative.  He is not only large, but covered in ink and scars; he definitely looks intimidating.  Plus, there's the aspect of her being this rather spoiled little rich girl visiting a tatoo parlor, of all places, on the wrong side of town.  This is the first time that she's been anywhere so far out of her comfort zone, and it completely unnerves her.

But, as we soon discover, Cal is even more undone by Cassy herself.  Despite the advantage of size and strength that he has over her, she weilds a uniquely intense power over him.  And for quite some time, she doesn't even realize it.  Right from the start though, the chemistry between them is palpable, and the love scenes are correspondingly HOT!  Slowly, each comes to mean more and more to the other, even as they keep their secrets to themselves.  Watching their relationship develop was delightful.  Unfortunately, there were outside influences that negatively affected their relationship.

The villains in this story are quite apparent and show themselves early.  They are so despicable that it made my skin crawl.  That Cassy allows herself to be manipulated by either of them, regardless of (or maybe more because of) who they are, is just sad.  I often found myself ranting at her to get a life and grow a brain and tell them where they could go.  That's when you truly know that a book has drawn you into its depths: when you starting talking to the characters as if they are real people.  LOL!

There were other minor characters introduced as well who were not rude and irritating.  Cal's brother and cousin, in particular, and Cassy's friend Ted.  I'm hopeful that we'll get to see more of them in future installments, and perhaps that some of them will even find loves of their own.
