BOOK BLITZ for "Dangerous (Wicked Hearts, #2)" by Sara Cate

Dangerous
(Wicked Hearts, #2)
by Sara Cate
Publication date:
February 25th, 2020
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Welcome to Wicked Beach…
Murph
They call me dangerous.

Which is fine by me. It keeps everyone out.
Then some new girl walks into my shop and turns everything upside down. It started out physical until she becomes the one person standing between me and the future of my business.
Now this mysterious new girl has me right where she wants me—physically, mentally…and emotionally.
Savannah
I’ve been burned before.

Now I look out for myself.
The last thing I expect is to inherit a tattoo shop run by the world’s scariest—and sexiest—business owner. If I were smart, I would cut him out and use the money to start a new life for myself—one free from the demons in my past.

But Murph’s hard eyes and gentle touch do something to me. It’s like he can see something no one else can, and no matter how hard I try, he won’t let me walk away.

If I want to save myself, I have to ruin him.

And to ruin him feels far more dangerous than what I’m running from.
Dangerous is the second swoon-worthy installment in the Wicked Hearts series. These stories can be read as standalones or together. Warning: this fast-paced romance might leave you breathless and a touch corrupted.

Excerpt:

“Where do you want it?”
I have to keep my eyes on his face or else they threaten to drift over his shoulders, chest, and that obvious bulge in his jeans.
Where do I want it? I repeat in my mind, and I know I have to answer quickly or else the obvious innuendo of that phrase will fill the already-awkward space between us.
At this point, being in the presence of a man, for the first time in so long—a whispering reminder of the life I used to live, has my body shouting at me to remember what it was like. To feel a man’s touch, his hands on my skin, around my body. Goosebumps erupt along the flesh of my exposed thighs.
“Here,” I choke, my voice breaking. I point to the inside of my upper thigh, just above my knee. It’s a strange place for a tattoo, for sure, but there’s meaning there.
I notice his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallows. With one eyebrow cocked, his gaze drifts down from my face to the puckered skin just below the hem of my purple cotton sundress. A raised scar roughly the size of a dollar and shaped like a fish hook catches his attention. I can see the questions on his face as the room grows silent.
Operation scars look different from violent scars. Violent scars are not methodical or neat. They are erratic, loud, and almost weep with memory. This scar, from the broken window of a four-door sedan eight feet under water tells a story that I don’t want in my book anymore. I want it covered.
I break the silence, luring his eyes back to my face and not my open legs. “I know it’s difficult to tattoo scars—I’ve done my research, but I want this covered. Is that…possible?” My voice shakes, giving away my nerves.
He clears his throat. “I can do that.”
Then, he leans forward. With just the expression on his face, he asks to touch it. I nod in return. The fingers of his right hand reach forward, and methodically, as if he’s inspecting the spot, he grazes the raised bump between my knees.
Having gone so long without another person’s touch anywhere below my belly button, I jump from the contact. His eyes meet mine. Then, he goes back to rubbing his thumb over the scar, and I feel my pulse quicken, my breath coming out in short spurts as if someone has crushed my lungs and won’t let me breathe.
I know he’s touching it for the purpose of the tattoo, but I watch the way he bites his lip, and I can tell it’s just as unnerving for him as it is for me. He swallows again. The room is deliciously silent, and this chemistry between us has changed. It’s dangerously close to something more than just a tattoo artist and his client.

BLOG TOUR for "Stolen Soulmate" by Mary Catherine Gebhard

STOLEN SOULMATE
by Mary Catherine Gebhard
Release Date: February 27th, 2020

AVAILABLE NOW!!

Add to Goodreads:

There’s a rule in Crowne Hall: never look a Crowne in the eyes.
It protects us more than them.

I broke it once, the night Grayson Crowne mistook me for his true love and stole my first kiss. I’ve regretted it every day since.

He hates me.
He torments me.

He won’t let me go, because that night he whispered a secret against my lips not meant for me. Grayson Crowne, heir to the Crowne empire and notorious playboy prince is… a virgin.

I signed a contract in my heart’s blood as much as ink: help him get back his love, repair what I broke. Give him my body, my soul, my heart, let him use all of me, so when the time comes to marry her, he won’t need me.

I shouldn’t need him.
But he’s my stolen soulmate, and I’m at his mercy.

About the Author:

I started writing the moment I could read. My first characters were Wibbley and Squig and I used MS Word and clipart to bring them to life when I was a kid in elementary school. I started seriously thinking about being a writer in High School and I remember the day exactly, because it was such an epiphany. I was always so uncertain. You know how everyone was always asking what you wanted to be when you were older? Well I NEVER could decide.

I wanted to be a marine biologist.

An actor.

A FIRE FIGHTER (thank you Joaquin Phoenix in Ladder 49 for that phase).

One day it hit me—A WRITER. I could do it ALL. Then you couldn’t stop me from writing. I penned my first novel at fifteen (but don’t ask me to show it to you, because it’s like I was in competition to beat the thesaurus). When I was diagnosed with a chronic illness, writing became even more important, because it became my therapy. When I wrote my characters, suddenly I wasn’t so alone.

These days you can find me daydreaming about where to travel with my husband, singing in my car, or lost in the newest K drama. And planning my next novel, of course

BLOG TOUR & AUTHOR INTERVIEW for "My Pulse" by Hanna Dale

My Pulse
by Hanna Dale
Publication date:
November 26th, 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
For single mom Tristan Maddox, moving to the small town of Broward, Georgia is the opportunity she needs to provide her daughter with a better life. A bigger house where they can each have their own bedroom, a backyard to play in, a place where they can put down roots and be part of a community, are all part of the reason she chose Broward as their new home. Nowhere on that list was her sexy next door neighbor, Owen, his adorably affable dog, Huck, or his crazy family.
Owen Gallahanger is perfectly content with his life the way it is. He has a job he loves, a family that he can count on, even if they drive him crazy most of the time, and his loyal sidekick, Huck. He isn’t looking for anything more, but after meeting Tristan and her daughter, he quickly realizes exactly what he is missing.
But not everyone is happy that Tristan is in Broward. As an unknown threat continues to escalate, Owen has to fight to protect the woman he loves, and their future together, or risk losing everything.

~AUTHOR INTERVIEW with Hanna Dale~

1) What gave you the inspiration for the storyline?

I think it takes a special kind of daring to do what’s necessary to provide the best life for your child – especially as a single parent navigating through a massive life change while still trying to provide stability. And to add falling in love in the middle of all of that?

2) Are there any hidden (or not so hidden) themes in the book that you hope readers will discover?

I’ve been lucky enough to have a partner while raising my children, but I know single parents who are navigating everything alone. They’re total rock stars. So not really a hidden theme, but mad props to all the single parents putting in the work to raise their children.

3) Are any of the characters based on real people you know?

I think some various traits might have found their way into certain characters, but I didn’t consciously sit down and base a character off of any one I know.

4) Who has influenced you most as a writer?

Oh, this is a tough one. I think I’m influenced by everyone I’ve ever met, every book I’ve read, every movie I’ve seen, and the moments I’ve had with my own husband and kids. Life itself is an influence.

 5) If you could have any three literary characters over to your place for game night, who would you invite, what would you play, what would you serve, and why?

Only three? I’m a huge romance novel reader so I feel like I’d invite four people (two couples!) But even then I’d have a hard time determining who I’d invite. Maybe Eve Dallas and Roarke from JD Robb’s In Death series, and then any couple from any of Lucy Score’s books. Any of them at all. They all seem like they’d be a good time. I would kick it old school for games. Let’s bust out Candy Land, Clue, Uno, and Monopoly. They can all get cutthroat if played correctly. I think you would have to have plenty of alcohol, so maybe pizza and beer? Then shots. There should definitely be shots…and chocolate.

6) Do you feel that you can ever have too many books?

Is this a real question? There are never too many books. Never. My bookshelves are overflowing, my e-reader is drowning in books, and I still want more. I want all the books.

BLOG TOUR & AUTHOR INTERVIEW with Melanie A. Smith for "Never Date a Doctor"

Never Date a Doctor
by Melanie A. Smith
Publication date: February 25th, 2020
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
From best-selling author Melanie A. Smith comes the first book in a new series of steamy contemporary medical romance standalone novels about life lessons that break all the rules.
What’s the first rule of nurse’s club? That’s right: Never date a doctor. Which Sasha Suvorin has no intention of doing anyway, since she’s a nurse at Rutherford Hospital by day and working on her master’s degree by night. Who has time for dating, much less dating someone you work with? Bad idea much?
That is, until the sexy British Dr. Caleb Thompson starts at her hospital. It also doesn’t help that he’s exactly her type with his dark hair, blue eyes, and rockin’ bod. Or that he’s not your typical arrogant and bossy surgeon. But Sasha isn’t so easily convinced, and she soon discovers Dr. Hottie has a past that puts a stop to whatever she might have been feeling before anything ever starts between them.
Unfortunately, working together means facing temptation. Every. Single. Day. Is Sasha strong enough to resist what might just be the perfect man? And if she gives in, will Cal’s past stay in the past? Sasha may be used to playing it safe, but life has a way of teaching its lessons … one way or another.

~AUTHOR INTERVIEW with Melanie A. Smith~

1) What gave you the inspiration for the storyline?

The core idea started when I had some blood pressure issues last summer (I swear I’m not that old. Turns out a pickle addiction is bad for your blood pressure. Who knew?) In any case, I ended up at a cardiologist’s office. And the cardiologist was ridiculously attractive. My writer brain started working on that immediately, and the idea grew from there!

2) Are there any hidden (or not so hidden) themes in the book that you hope readers will discover?

That sometimes the lessons we learn in life aren’t the ones we expected to. That it’s important to challenge yourself instead of becoming complacent or accepting the status quo. That learning about yourself and what you really want and need is a process. These are all pretty consistent themes in all of my books, and I think romance in general. I think it’s why I write romance. Not just because it’s emotionally satisfying, but because the process of finding “the one” is chock full of lessons, challenges, and growth that layer beautifully for a truly meaningful read.

3) Are any of the characters based on real people you know?

Definitely, though to varying degrees. I think it’s natural to incorporate elements of people you know, and yourself, for that matter, into characters. The trick is never to admit who they’re based on and always leave people guessing in a “You’re So Vain” kind of way. ;)

4) Who has influenced you most as a writer?

To an extent, I think my writing is influenced by everything I read as I study the various story aspects, though particularly so by other indie authors I've read in my journey this last year and change. But nobody has shaped my writing more than Anne Rice. I’ve been reading her books for two decades (yeesh, my age is showing) and watching her continue to entertain and evolve is beyond inspirational.

5) If you could have any three literary characters over to your place for game night, who would you invite, what would you play, what would you serve, and why?

I simultaneously love and hate this question. I love it because there are so many literary characters I love. But I hate having to choose (haha). I’ll go with Mr. Darcy, Gandalf, and Thursday Next. We’d play Clue, because what else would you play with an aristocratic snob, a wizard, and chronoguard? I’d serve finger sandwiches and tea, naturally, as they’re all British or the brain-child of a Brit. Darcy would hate the whole affair, which would intrigue Thursday, and Gandalf wouldn’t care so long as he had his pipe. And I’d have died and gone to heaven.

6) Do you feel that you can ever have too many books?

Is there really someone out there saying you can have too many books? And what’s their damage? No. Decidedly not. Books are everything – teachers, places to escape to, a way to connect with others, fuel for imagination … I could go on, but I think you get the idea.

~ BOOK REVIEW for Alpha Knight ~

****(4) out of 5 Stars!

While not quite as good as the first volume (Alpha Bully), this was a very good addition to this series.  Sloane and Bo meet under rather unusual circumstances, when she is working with his brother Winslow to clean up for sale a car that she's stolen.  The reasons behind this Cave Hills High School "princess" jacking cars are something that doesn't become know to Bo for quite some time.  And they really precipitate almost all of the action in the book.

The fact that Sloane is stealing cars as a way to try to get out of the trouble that she's in is one of the main things that I did not enjoy about the book.  Despite being told that the money she'd earn from doing so isn't enough to cover someone else's debt that she is being forced to pay, she continues on with this dangerous and pointless course of action.  Sloane also refuses to seek help from anyone in her life, even though there are people around that she could probably trust and who might even be able to help her.  Bo also, once he discovers her secrets, doesn't ask for help from his or a nearby pack, or from any of a number of (some rather powerful) adults who might be able to assist them.  Instead, he takes on his own dangerous attempt of trying to earn some money that they both know will not be anywhere near enough.  Shortly thereafter, in spite of knowing what Sloane is probably thinking and things that may have led her to abandon him, does nothing but wallow in his hurt, leaving her alone in this dangerous situation for an extended period of time.  Even the ending, while it appears that they have made it out of their predicament freely, does not entail a resolution that necessarily guarantees their long-term safety.  Really, I often just wanted to smack one or the other of them upside the head!

Aside from those annoying plot points and character flaws though, the remainder of the story is actually quite good, and the writing itself superb.  Despite both of their efforts to hold the other at a distance and keep their feelings in check, Bo and Sloane fall hard and fast for one another on a variety of levels.  Their physical attraction is strong and powerful, while the emotional connection that they form is meaningful and substantial.

There aren't an awful lot of sexy time scenes in this book, but the ones that they do share are quite hot.  Again, while there are, as in the prior book of the series, instances of power-exchange and punishment, there's a strong vibe of implied consent that runs through their interactions.  Bo evens asks Sloane on more than one occasion if she's okay with things that have transpired between them, just to be sure; and he leaves her with various options to protest, or even to get rid of him should she actually be so inclined.

There are a few peripheral characters mentioned in the book, although not many who come in to play very much at all.  Some of the players from Alpha Bully reemerge, and some of the same events are covered.  But overall there is not a lot of interaction with any of them.  There is, however, serious implication that there will be future stories in the series starrring other members of the Wolf Ridge High alpha-holes clique.  And I, for one, definitely look forward to reading them!

I received a free eBook copy of this title from Give Me Books Promotions,
and have willingly provided an honest review.

Excerpt:

Teri offers, “It’s a good thing you came because she’s probably going to win Homecoming Queen, and she wasn’t even going to go.”
That’s right. Homecoming.
And I’m her date.
“When is that?”
Teri narrows her eyes. “Tonight,” she says with a what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-you expression.
Tonight. Right. Fuck—I have a football game.
I wink, though. “I know, I meant what time?”
“Seven,” Teri and Samatha say at once.
Seven. That might work. The game is at four. If Coach lets me play, I still have time afterwards to shower, put on a tie and get back to Cave Hills. Might be a little late, but that’s fashionable.
“We don’t need to go,” Sloane attempts.
“Of course we do, babycakes.” I reach over and thumb some peanut butter from the corner of her lips, loving playing the doting boyfriend role because it pisses her off. “That’s the whole reason I’m here. And you might get crowned queen. And here I just thought you were a princess.”
She elbows me.
I catch her around the waist and pull her back on my lap as punishment. When she struggles, I tickle her, then open my knees to trap her in the hole between them, so I can cage her with legs and arms.
It’s way too intimate, and I know that fucking drives her crazy.
I like torturing her.
I also like the way she feels in my arms. Her scent all up in my nostrils, her soft skin under my hands.
I normally don’t have a thing for humans, but I could honestly say a girl like this one would be worth making an exception for.
Too bad I don’t trust her as far as I can throw her.
And she hates me.
And she destroyed my family.
