My readers are what's important to me. Yes, I write for myself and the enjoyment of it, but I adore when a reader actually has a great time reading a story I slaved over. I don't write any particular genre, but I do stick to kick-ass female characters. I love writing about all types of differently strong women. My debut series is Young Adult Science Fiction. The first novella is free to see if you enjoy what I write.

I'm very involved with my fandoms, and love all things geeky and nerdy. I love connecting with my readers, so if you'd like to contact me just head over to my website.  :)

Rory is your average high school senior. Or she was, until her mother banishes her to hell, also known as Trumbull, Connecticut. The small suburb with only a mall and movie theater, sure feels like the netherworld until Rory’s first day at her new school. That’s the day she meets Bowen, who begs her to join him on a class project. But when Bowen drags her to a graveyard after dark for research purposes, Rory wants to fly back home to Atlanta, or at least return to her aunt’s house unharmed and unmolested.

Nothing could go wrong, right? They talk, they laugh, and they wander among the tombstones looking for information on the local ghostly legend known as the White Lady. Then they have to run, but they cannot outrun a ghost. In addition to the ghostly woman, a half buried dead body leads Rory and Bowen into a deadly game of cat and mouse, but who is the killer? Is it human or something long dead and otherworldly?

The police are of little help, Rory’s aunt just wants her to remain safe, and Bowen, who she can’t stay away from, keeps finding ways to get her into more trouble than she has ever known. Whether breaking into a suspected killer’s house, being followed by a menacing ghost, or being stalked at school, Rory hopes finding the killer will put an end to the supernatural haunting. Before Rory can discover the identity of the killer, she is drawn into the mystery of the White Lady, which opens the door for some very real danger.

Excerpt from "Wear White to Your Funeral":

Bowen sent her a text early the next morning as she sat at the kitchen table drinking her first cup of coffee. Nora was nowhere to be seen at this hour. She couldn’t imagine that Bowen had anything to do with seeing a ghost, but one tiny little part of her continued to wonder. She had no other rational explanation. Still, he would have to be an amazing actor if he had set everything up and pretended to be scared of the White Lady. Rory doubted it, but she didn’t know him that well. Although after their time together, Rory felt she could trust him.
“That was a great first date,” he sent the text.
“Yes it was,” Rory replied, not sure if Bowen was serious or not. The fact that Bowen considered it a date made Rory happy, and she had enjoyed their time together after the ghost and the graveyard. She wanted another date. “When’s the next one?” She typed.
“I can’t wait to see your pretty pimple.”
Rory looked at the screen. What did he mean by that? Had she broken out with all the stress lately? She didn’t think she had any blemishes when she had prepared for the date.
“Dimple.” The words appeared quickly on Rory’s phone screen.
“What?” She texted back.
“I meant that I can’t wait to see your cute dimple. Stupid auto correct.”
“I don’t want to write anything else and risk more embarrassment. I’ll see you in journalism.”

Shakespeare's First Folio!

This weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to see
First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare.

Marking the 400th anniversary year of Shakespeare's death,
this is a nationwide, touring exhibition
that will visit all 50 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico in 2016.

After Shakespeare's death in 1616,
two of his friends and partners in the King's Men - John Heminge and Henry Condell -
assembled 36 of his 38 plays, creating the First Folio.

Currently on loan from the Folger Shakespeare Library,
this 1623 First Folio of Shakespeare, probably had a print run of 750 copies,
of which, fewer than a third - only 233 copies - are known to be in existence today.

Of the 36 plays included in the First Folio, 18 had never been printed before.
Without it, these works could very well have been lost to history.

Below is the First Folio, open to one of Shakespeare's most famous passages,
the "to be or not to be" speech from Hamlet.

Although not on display in this exhibit,
the image below is from the title page of the First Folio.
It is one of only two images of William Shakespeare approved by those who knew him.
(The other one is a memorial bust in his hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon.)

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts.

Often when people are given a mental health disorder diagnosis the weaknesses are clear and overwhelmingly emphasized, while the strengths are ignored or forgotten. The mental health children's book series 'What Mental Disorder?' challenges the stigma against therapy and diagnosis. It enlists the reader to view the character as a whole being and not as a mental issue. Although there are aspects that the character will have to learn to cope with in order to function successfully in their life, there are also amazing traits that make them unique and remarkably accomplished.

REVIEW: "Dawn of the Vie (Immortal Aliens, #1)" by Laura Diamond

***(3) out of 5 stars

This was a very strange book, and I can’t say that I cared for it much.  As happens so often in sci-fi books, or at least ones that I seem to have read lately, the premise was very intriguing, but things just didn’t pan out all that well.

The story begins with an Anemie (someone with anemia) named Justin and his little sister Sammie.  We’re quickly introduced to their dangerous, dystopian world where Anemies are hunted down and killed for being considered useless to a breed of immortal, alien vampire overlords called the Vie.  Constantly on the run, often unable to secure the barest necessities of food, water and shelter, or the basics of sufficient clothing and shoes.

Then one day they meet Alex, an Elite among the Vie, who is part scientist, part Raid Specialist, and part drug addict.  He knows how valuable Anemie blood can be as a mind-altering recreational drug.  Something about Justin’s blood is especially addicting.  So once he has sampled it, Alex goes to great lengths to secure more of it for himself, pretty much to the detriment of everything else in his life, not to mention Justin’s life.

I especially disliked the brutal and excessive violence that replayed itself in a myriad of different ways and scenes in the book.  And particularly the way that Justin seemed so detached and indifferent to the carnage that plays itself out around him, even when it involves him.

Apparently, this is just the first book in a series, so hopefully the sequel(s) will bode better for mankind.  But this story just left me feeling down and depressed about the chances.

I received an eBook copy of this title free from Curiosity Quills Press,
and have willingly provided an honest review.
