BOOK BLITZ for "Johnny (Bossy Brothers, #2)" by J.A. Huss

Johnny
(Bossy Brothers, #2)
by J.A. Huss
Publication date: Sept 26th, 2019
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense
She wasn’t supposed to be the princess I wasn’t looking for.
When my father ‘died’ five years ago I took over the ‘family business’. But when I say business, I really mean secret society. Or cult. Or militia. Hell, let’s keep it simple and call it the mob.
It’s just not that mob.
It’s much darker, much dirtier, and much more dangerous than any old everyday mob.
And I was perfectly fine with my role in life for a long time. But now my brothers are involved and I need to get them out.
Enter Megan Machette.
When I found her helpless, nearly-naked, and chained to a wall on an island prison I had no intention of being her Prince Charming. But then I found out she had a dirty, dark, dangerous secret that could solve all my family problems.
I was just going to use her. Play her. Tell her everything she wanted to hear.
I never planned on baring my secrets to her in a midnight confession and I certainly never expected her to see past the dark filth inside my soul and find the man underneath.
But she did.
She wasn’t supposed to be the princess I wasn’t looking for.
But she is.
And now I will do anything—even use her evil secret to take down thousands of people—to save my brothers and get what I want.
Her.
Bossy Brothers: Johnny features a prince saving his princess from a life of hell, one or ten romantic gestures from a tattooed bad boy, swimming with glowing dolphins in the Bahamas, and secrets so deep everyone almost drowns. Bossy Brothers: Johnny is book three in the series and can be read alone but should be read in order.

Excerpt:

MEGAN

“How come you don’t mind when I say ‘cock?’”
He leans in, soft mouth nibbling my ear, and whispers, “Because a dirty mouth isn’t the same thing as dirty talking. I really like the dirty talk. And if you’re really sincere about asking me why now, why you? Well, then let me take this opportunity to convince you my offer is well thought out and real.”
My mouth is open. My heart is racing. My nipples are tight and the sweet spot between my legs is throbbing. I suck in a breath and hold it.
“I want to untie that little string bikini I bought for you this afternoon, throw it out to sea, wrap your legs around my middle, stick my thick, hard cock up inside you, and then fuck you slowly in the light of the moon.”
I breathe out. “We might drown.”
He bites my earlobe. His feet making underwater waves as he keeps us afloat.
“Sometimes the price of victory is high. But I promise you, it won’t end in drowning. All you have to do is say yes.”
I want to say yes. I wanted him to make this move last night. I thought he would make this move last night. So why am I hesitating?
Maybe it’s because he’s thrown me some curveballs today. Starting with all that chastising about swearing, then the uncharacteristic self-doubt in the restaurant, then he changed the plan and gave me presents… and tied that ribbon around my wrist like he was claiming me as his.
Jesus Christ. I’m delusional.
But all that does actually add up to something and it could be this… gesture.
Or offer. Or whatever it is he’s doing.
It doesn’t add up.
“Or,” he says, his fingers tugging on one of the strings holding my bottoms on until it comes loose, “you could just tell me no when you want me to stop, if that’s the way you play submit.”
“Submit?” I laugh. But his hand is already tugging on the other string. And the next thing I know I’m not wearing bottoms anymore.
They’re floating free somewhere down below me. A thing of the sea now.
He just keeps going. His hands reach up to the rhinestone clasp between my breasts, opening it in one swift, well-practiced move, and they’re free, his palms squeezing them tight until I let out a small moan.
“Tell me no,” he whispers into my ear. “Because unless you tell me no, I’m gonna keep going like it’s a yes.”
I bite my lip, but I don’t say no.
Then his open mouth is on mine. His lips soft, but somehow still demanding and punishing. Both hands come up to my face to hold me there. Captive in his kiss.
We start to sink, and I struggle away, my hands and feet treading water to keep us afloat. But his hands drop down to my thighs, gripping them tight as he opens me up. Immediately, I press my knees around his middle. His fingers tug on his board shorts, and then his cock is between my open legs. Pressing, pushing, insisting on being inside me.
“Hold on to me,” he whispers past my lips, our mouths still kissing.
And I do. Desperately. My arms circle his neck and my legs circle his hips. Giving him permission to enter me fully.
It’s the slowest fuck I’ve ever experienced. There’s barely any friction. There’s no forceful pushing and thrusting. There’s just not enough resistance in the water for a hard fuck like that.
But I don’t need any of that right now. My body is hot, and alive, and begging for more. And even though he’s not giving me more, he has no more to give while we’re in the ocean like this, I don’t really need it. Every small movement excites me. Every brush of his lips against mine thrills me. And when his hand on my hip lowers down the curve of my ass and presses between my legs, I’m almost embarrassed at how wonderful that feels.
I gasp a little. We’re no longer kissing. But our foreheads are pressed together. Our breathing ragged and matched. His feet kicking underwater to keep us afloat.
I let go of him and drop my fingers down between our bodies, pressing against the hard muscles of his stomach, until my fingers flip over so I can play with myself.
Johnny leans in and bites my neck. I gasp, and he pulls back, kissing it softly. But then he bites again, and again, and again until some unknown, never-before-experienced feeling of lust and desire fills my body and…
“Oh, shit,” I moan softly. “Shit.”
I come on my fingers. His hard cock barely inside me.
I bury my head into his neck, embarrassed. Not really understanding how that even happened.
He leans over on his side. One hand gripping my waist, holding us together, the other dragging us towards the shore.
I don’t even know what’s happening and I’m starting to feel uncomfortable and weird about what I just did when I realize he’s standing on the sandy ocean floor, lifting me up. Carrying me through the crashing waves to the beach.
He lays me down, half in, half out of the rolling surf. His body covers mine, his hands on both my cheeks once again, his mouth open, tongue inside me.
Then he lets go of my face, grabs both knees with both hands, opens me back up, and slips inside.
And this time his cock—still rock hard—refuses to fuck me slowly.

BOOK REVIEW for "Trace: Cosmos Alien Mail Order Bride #1: Intergalactic Dating Agency" by Annie Nicholas

Trace
Cosmos Alient Mail Order Bride #1
Intergalactic Dating Agency
by Annie Nicholas
Published: September 23rd, 2019

SUMMARY

Cosmos Resort and Dating Agency, a place where aliens come to win the heart of a beautiful and rare human mate.

Or that’s what the brochure says.

The Intergalactic Intelligence Agency isn’t so sure since humans are being sold on the black market. They send Trace and his team undercover to the primitive world of Earth as potential customers to investigate the resort. But the universe has a sick sense of humor, because the first human Trace meets seems closer to cracking the case than his team, and also cracking the cold walls surrounding his heart.

Working together, he and Lily discover they have a lot more in common than a mystery to solve.

Lily Johnstone is an investigative journalist on the hot trail of a slave trafficking ring based on a remote island in the Pacific. When she arrives, she’s shocked not to find pirates or terrorists, but a luxury resort run by… wait for it… aliens. Nobody will ever believe her story except for the tabloids. Unless she brings home proof like a certain sexy alien named Trace.

~ BOOK REVIEW for Trace ~

*****(4) out of 5 Stars!

This was a fun little humorous sci-fi insta-romance mystery novel!

I was a bit confused by the two sub or series titles for this book — Cosmos Alien Mail Order Bride and Intergalactic Dating Agency — since it had nothing to do with mail order brides and only indirectly the intergalactic dating agency.

The story actually begins with Lily, who is investigating the apparent disappearance of a number of contestants from the beauty pageant circuit.  She's afraid it is some sort of sex trafficking ring, but the truth is much more complicated and sinister.  Lily comes across overall as a very put-together, intelligent, resourceful individual.  But then there are a couple of times when she comes completley unglued that just seem totally out of character for her.

Trace is approaching the mystery from an entirely different perspective, his team having been made aware of human females being sold on the intergalactic black market.  The truth is not exactly what they were expecting to find.  Trace is a seasoned professional, good at his job, and with an inspiring repoire with his team.  He also comes across as a total sweetheart, at least where Lily is concerned; his main focus is keeping her safe and getting her to accept him.

"She understands."  It had gone rather well.
She said she'd accept any external form as long as it was him inside.

The main peripherary characters, Trace's fellow agents Hack and Crypto, are both interesting characters in their own right.  I was happy to hear that Hack's will be the next story in the series, and I assume that Crypto's will follow.

There is just enough intrigue and perceived danger in the tale to keep things interesting, but not enough to take away too much from the light, happy feel of the book.  The main mystery of the tale is somewhat explained, but not entirely solved, by the end of the book.  It doesn't end on a cliffhanger by any means, but definitely with more to be explained.  If I didn't know this was the first in a series then I'd have been upset, but as it is I just can hardly wait for the next fun installment.

I received an eBook copy of this title from the author,
and have willingly provided an honest review.

BOOK BLITZ for "To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Series, #1)" by Jamie A. Waters

To Kill a Fae
(The Dragon Portal Series)
by Jamie A. Waters

Publication date:
September 26th, 2019
Genres: Adult, Fantasy
The darkness holds more than just secrets…
Marked for death, Sabine escaped from her home and fled to a human city.
But the Wild Hunt will never give up.
For more than a decade, she’s kept her head down and avoided talking about her past.
Even the best-laid plans eventually fall apart…
When a charismatic stranger arrives, Sabine is unwittingly drawn to him and his power. Keeping her distance is nearly impossible, especially after a life debt is called due and she’s tasked with helping him steal a rare artifact.
In order to break the magical barriers protecting the item and save her companions, Sabine will be forced to drop her glamour and reveal her true identity.
The Fae aren’t the only ones hunting her.
And the most dangerous monsters aren’t always confined to the dark.

Excerpt:

Sabine tensed, scanning the dead-end alleyway for a place to hide. If they climbed the trellis again, they’d be spotted. It was too risky to try to use her magic to shroud them from view, but if the guards turned around, they’d be in clear view. It was unlikely the guards would trouble her too much, but Dax would kill Malek if he found out he’d accompanied her. Not even her mark on Malek’s wrist would stop him.
Yanking off her heavy cloak, she tied it around her waist to cover her weapons and give the appearance she wore a dress. With her hair unbraided and covering her ears, it might be enough for the guards to overlook them. At the very least, they might not recognize her right away and would assume they were two lovers engaging in a quick tryst in the alley. Malek’s expression became quizzical, but she ignored him and gripped his shirt tightly.
“Kiss me,” she whispered urgently, aware they only had seconds to pull off this ruse.
“What?”
She pulled him toward her just as footsteps rapidly approached. Awareness filled his eyes, and he lowered his head, pressing his lips against hers. She put her arms around his neck, listening for the guards.
Malek wrapped his arms around her, drawing her even closer. Focus was critical, but his nearness affected all of her senses. Oh, this was a very bad idea. The taste of his lips and the scent of his skin were heady, threatening to overwhelm her from pure sensation. Despite the danger of the approaching guards, he took his time, tasting and exploring her mouth. Malek did have magic, but she couldn’t tell how much because it was tightly controlled and suppressed.
She whimpered and softened against his body, unable to resist him. Part of her was tempted to claim she was merely playing a part, but she wanted this. She wanted him. Unlocking his magic wouldn’t be difficult, but she wasn’t willing to force him into revealing his secrets before he was ready. This kiss was only a hint of what could be between them, and she suspected this brief taste of him was never going to be enough.

EXCERPT:
“There,” he said, pointing at Kelia’s face. “You have a range of emotion littering your face.” He chuckled. “You’re easier to read than a book.”
Kelia bristled. She absolutely detested knowing she was here because she needed the assistance of a Sea Shadow. And not just any, but the most infamous vampire pirate of them all.
“I found out some information,” she murmured. “And I feel you would be able to assist me in what to do with it.”
He tilted his head to the side, his eyes shining. “Do share, darling.”
It was hard to concentrate when he smiled that way. Kelia had known he was dangerously beautiful, but when he was directly in front of her, cocking a smile like it was a weapon and shooting it in her direction, she was completely powerless.
“Well, don’t be shy with the goods,” he prodded. “What did you find that you need my help with?”
She shot him a glare, and he laughed.
“You are so good to goad, darling,” Drew said. “Something you need to work on. You don’t want your enemies to pick up on your weakness. They might use it to manipulate you.”
Kelia arched her eyebrow. “And how do I know who my enemies are?”
Drew’s smirk deepened. “That, my dear, is a very good question.”

BOOK BLITZ for "Taming Demons for Beginners (The Guild Codex: Demonized, #1)" by Annette Marie

Taming Demons
for Beginners
(The Guild Codex:
Demonized, #1)
by Annette Marie
Published by: Dark Owl Fantasy Inc.
Publication date:
September 13th, 2019
Genres: New Adult, Urban Fantasy
Rule one: Don’t look at the demon.
When I arrived at my uncle’s house, I expected my relatives to be like me—outcast sorcerers who don’t practice magic. I was right about the sorcery, but wrong about everything else.
Rule two: Don’t listen to the demon.
My uncle chose a far deadlier power. He calls creatures of darkness into our world, binds them into service contracts, and sells them to the highest bidder. And I’m supposed to act like I don’t know how illegal and dangerous it is.
Rule three: Don’t talk to the demon.
All I had to do was keep my nose out of it. Pretend I didn’t find the summoning circle in the basement. Pretend I didn’t notice the shadowy being trapped inside it. Pretend I didn’t break the rules.
But I did, and now it’s too late.

From the author of The Guild Codex: Spellbound comes a new series that will plunge an unprepared young woman into the darkest magic of the mythic world.

Excerpt:

I snapped the Demonica guide shut and replaced it under the table, then scooped up my remaining cookies and walked across the hardwood floor. I stopped two long steps from the summoning circle, the dome-shape interior filled with inky, impenetrable shadows.
I held up a cookie.
“This,” I announced, “is a double-chocolate brownie cookie. It’s delicious, and I’ll give it to you if you answer a question for me.”
Silence from within the darkness.
“I answered your question,” I added accusingly.
Quiet lay upon the room—then a soft, husky laugh.
“A question, hh’ainun?” the demon crooned. “What would you ask?”
Doubts trickled through me. This was a bad idea, but I plowed on. “Do demons lie?”
Ch,” it replied, a sound of cold amusement. “Zh’ūltis question. Ask another.”
I frowned. “What does zhuh-ool … what does that word mean?”
“Stupid. Stupid question.”
My frown deepened into a scowl. I rephrased. “If it’s true that demons don’t lie, why is that?”
A long pause, but it wasn’t the same silence as before. My skin prickled, instinct warning that a predator’s attention was locked on me.
“Tell me truths and lies, hh’ainun.”
“What?” I asked blankly.
The demon said nothing, waiting.
Brow furrowed, I searched for harmless things to say. “I moved here six days ago. I miss my college classes. My favorite class was biology. I enjoy baking for my family.”
“Moved here,” the demon repeated in its swirling accent. “True. Miss your … college,” it enunciated carefully, as though unfamiliar with the word, “true. Biology … lie.”
My eyes widened.
“Your family.” It rolled the last word as though tasting it. “Lie.” “No,” I said. “That one is true.”
“Lie,” the demon repeated with certainty.
“You’re wrong. I love baking for my family.”
Zh’ūltis.”
“Did you just call me stupid?” I clenched my jaw, then relaxed. “You didn’t answer my question.”
“I did.”
“No, you didn’t.” Glaring, I took a deep breath. “Fine. Whatever. If that’s your idea of answering a question, I won’t bother asking any more.”
I stepped closer to the circle, knelt, and carefully set the paper towel of cookies on the floor. Keeping my body as far away as possible, I nudged a corner of the paper across the silver inlay, then snatched my hand back. This was the closest I’d ever come to the circle.
A soft scuff against the hardwood emanated from the darkness. The paper towel twitched, then slid into the black dome.
Icy blades of fear cut through me. Suddenly, the demon was no longer a voice—it was a physical being. Something alive and solid and real that could pull the cookies into its prison cell. My gaze rose from the floor where the treats had disappeared to the curved black wall.
A spark of red in the darkness.
Flames burst to life and shot upward in a hungry blaze. I flung myself back. As I landed on my butt, the brief flare lit a shape within the black—the dark outline of shoulders, the edge of a jaw, the plane of a cheekbone.
Burning crimson eyes caught the light and glowed.
The fire died as quickly as it had appeared, and the dome was once again filled with impenetrable darkness, the demon hidden within. Gray fluff fluttered out of the circle—ash. Flakes of ash. The demon had burned the paper towel.
I scooted across the floor, then pushed onto trembling legs. Without a word or a backward glance, I ran through the door and pushed it shut behind me, swearing never to return.
An hour later, as I lay in bed, trying to sleep, all I could see was the demon’s dim outline—and those eyes that had glowed like hot coals, like magma erupting from a volcano’s heart.

BOOK BLITZ for "Shadow Caster (The Nightwatch Academy, #1)" by Debbie Cassidy

Shadow Caster
(The Nightwatch Academy, #1)
by Debbie Cassidy
Publication date:
September 10th, 2019
Genres: New Adult, Romance,
Urban Fantasy
Murdering humans is a huge no-no and comes with an off-with-your-head sentence. Doesn’t matter if you don’t remember doing the crime.
I killed a human, and no, it wasn’t on purpose, but that shit doesn’t matter to the council. I’m facing death. So, when I’m offered a deal to avoid execution, I’d be a fool not to take it, even if it means leaving the human world and urban life behind to enroll in the Nightwatch Academy – a gothic monstrosity hidden from human eyes, located way too close to the largest tear in the fabric of our reality.
It would be fun if I had any inclination of becoming a member of the Watch or supporting the shadow knights at keeping the Formorian threat at bay. But heck, the monsters beyond the mist aren’t my problem. I have personal demons to deal with.
Once I’m out, the Watch can shove it.
But one sip from the ceremonial goblet and my plans to coast are out of the window as my powers spark to life.
I’m an anomaly, one the Watch won’t be letting walk any time soon.
My only comfort is a man who prides himself on his ability to harness pain. Battle scarred and formidable, he’s my tutor, my mentor, and the object of some super saucy dreams. He’s completely off limits and my only hope of surviving my first test.
I’ll need to harness my powers fast.
There can be no distractions.
But when my fellow cadets start going missing then returning with no memory of who they used to be and my best friend is taken, turning a blind eye is no longer an option.
Allies are limited when you’re a freak. Luckily, I don’t need a cheer squad to get shit done. Whoever is responsible better watch out. I’m coming for them, and I’ll be bringing the pain.
The Vampire Academy meets Game of Thrones in this kick-ass, supernatural academy, Urban Fantasy Romance.

Excerpt:

“Wake up, Indie.”
A hand landed on my shoulder and had the audacity to give it a shake.
Fuck off was the desired response, but the word that came out was harrumph.
“Indie, come on. You promised you wouldn’t miss today.”
Today? Oh, yeah, the team exercise, as in there is no I in team, as in I didn’t give a shit. But the exam was the last lesson of the evening, and my bio clock told me the sun had only just set.
Still, Minnie’s shadow loomed over me, and the heat of her gorgon glare burned holes in the back of my head.
“The whole day, Indie. You promised to do a whole day.” She reminded me with that stern edge to her tone, which told me that ten-inch-thick steel would break before she would.
Me and my big mouth. Maybe if I faked sickness, she’d piss off and leave me be. Going to shitty classes was the last thing I wanted to do tonight.
I coughed and made a gagging sound.
“Nah-uh,” she said. “The whole frickin’ day and the exam. You skip the test, and we all get a fail. And you don’t want me to fail, do you?”
Urgh. Emotional blackmail, which coming from anyone else I’d be immune to. I rolled onto my back and stared at the pixie-cute woman looking down at me. Her crimson bob grazed her delicate jaw as she leaned over me, and her wide jade eyes were hard with determination.
Over the last two months, I’d learned three things about Minnie Faraday. First, that she wasn’t a stuck-up arsehole like the rest of the Faraday family. Second, she had a soft spot for kittens, and anything small and furry, and third—the most important—that she did not take no for an answer.
Trust me, I’d tried to keep her at a distance. I mean, sharing a room with her didn’t mean we had to be friends. I didn’t need or want any friends here. But Minnie had decided that’s exactly what we were going to be, and she’d pursued me unrelentingly until she’d worn me down.
So, here we were. Two friends in a glare off. One I knew I was about to lose, because yeah, I’d promised not to skip out on the simulation today. Team exercises were graded based on team performance, if one member was a no show, the whole team suffered.
I closed my eyes and blew out a breath. “Fine. Give me five minutes, and I’ll meet you in the lobby.
“Five.” She narrowed her eyes. “I’ll be back to get you if you don’t show.”
I flashed my teeth at her. “Have I ever let you down, pixie-boo?”
“Do not call me that.” She crossed her arms. “You know I hate it.” She sniffed.
“Riiight. So, you just wrote it in the back of your notebook and decorated it with tiny flowers for no reason then?”
She opened and closed her mouth a couple of times and then took a deep breath. “Five minutes.”
She grabbed her book bag and headed out of the room.
The door didn’t slam behind her.
Not too pissed off then.
