BOOK BLITZ for "Fool’s Errand (Fate’s Fools, #4)" by Ophelia Bell

Fool’s Errand
(Fate’s Fools, #4)
by Ophelia Bell
Publication date: March 19th, 2019
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance
A lost soul…
You never know what you’ve got until it’s gone. In my case that was literal – I had Ozzie West’s soul and didn’t know it, but now it’s been torn from me and him along with it. I’m afraid I will never get him back.
My heart is broken.
My three mates may try to fill that void, but they don’t understand what he meant to me. They can’t see the memories unlocked by Fate.
Only one man can help, but he’s the one man I’m afraid I can never trust again.

Excerpt:

“Sing with me,” I whispered as I began to move. I lifted my wet hands from his shoulders to his temples, raking my fingers through his damp curls and holding on, my grip forcing his head to tilt back.
Rohan’s golden gaze fixed on my face, his eyelids fluttering slightly and his breath coming quicker as I fucked him. “Are you sure?”
“Yes. I want to try . . . ”
He gripped my hips with both hands and took a deep breath. His exhale became a long, plaintive note, his brows creasing with the tension of the first verse of a song to accompany our lovemaking.
The music was the perfect mix of hungry and sweet, and I clung to him as the notes settled inside me. I ached to join in when the tension of the pleasure coiled so tight I needed an outlet before I came too fast, but my voice betrayed me once again. When I tried to sing, the sound just came out as a pitiful croak, so I clamped my mouth shut, focusing on the pleasure to hold back the tears.
I buried my face in his neck, my moan half pleasure, half despair. Rohan stroked the back of my neck, halting mid-verse. “It’ll come back to you, baby. I promise. I’m proof you don’t need a turul soul to sing.”
“Just make love to me,” I whispered, pulling back to look into his eyes. He gazed intently back at me, brow creased and jaw clenched, betraying how my own hurt affected him just as acutely.
I took a deep breath and started rocking my hips again, focusing on the pleasure of our connection as he resumed the song. The music truly helped, even if I couldn’t join in without an instrument.
I let myself get lost in the rhythm he set and the deep notes that rose above the steam. I could draw the pleasure out with him, trusting that he’d let me know when he’d given too much. Rohan urged me on, holding tighter and shifting his hips into mine at a quicker tempo.
The lyrics to the song gave way to his cries of pleasure as we crested together, both of us finding our climax at the same second amid sloshing water and slippery, gasping kisses. Rohan’s strained expression fell into laughter as he relaxed, his skin glowing faintly with my iridescent magic and my own skin glimmering golden and wet.
I sank against him with a sigh, grateful for yet another reprieve from the ever-encroaching threat to my sanity and the added disappointment of losing my voice. Perhaps with enough time and their continued attention, that need would fade and my songs would return. For now, I would enjoy the lucidity when I had it and let them do the singing for me.

Jules
(Reed Security, #12)
by Giulia Lagomarsino
Publication date: March 18th, 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Julian swore he would always love her. He said he would never leave her. He’s about to break that promise. If only she would listen. If only she would trust him. But how much crap can one man take? It’s time to move on.  Ivy wants Julian more than anything, but she’s won’t trust anyone with her secrets. Now it’s too late. He doesn’t want her, but she needs him more than ever. If only she could make him understand. If only she had told him sooner how she felt, but that train has left the station and her life is going to hell. She should have told him she loved him when she had the chance.

Excerpt:

“You really are f@&king stupid,” Ice sneered. “Why don’t you just kick her puppy while you’re at it.”
“She doesn’t have a puppy.”
“That was sarcasm, a$$hole. Getting your brain scrambled has made you a real dumb f@&ker.”
“What was wrong with what I said?”
“You just reminded her that you still don’t remember her after you kissed her.”
“Yeah, it’s true. That’s why I said it.”
“Well, f@&k. There’s your first problem,” Ice grumbled. “You never tell the truth.”
“I thought honesty was always best.”
“Nooo. No, no, no.” Chris agreed with him, which I found a little odd, which meant it was probably the right answer. “How’s dinner?”
“Fantastic,” Ice said. “Never had a better steak.”
“Honey, did you put that bill in the mail?”
“Of course, honey. I know that bill was important,” Ice smirked.
“Was it good for you?”
“Best head of my life.”
“That’s an important one,” Chris said urgently. “Never forget that one. She wants to know that she’s the absolute best and you’re never thinking about any other woman going down on you.”
“You lie to her about sex?” I asked incredulously.
“They do it too,” Ice shrugged. “You’re the best I’ve ever had. You made me come so hard. Your dick doesn’t fit. All of those are lies they tell us to make us feel ten feet tall. You know for a fact that they still think of past f@&ks because we do it too. And then there’s that lie about coming so hard when you know they were faking it. And come on, we all know that a dick can only be so big and it’s definitely going to fit because they can squeeze a baby out of their vaginas.”
“Lies are a healthy part of any good relationship,” Chris agreed. “They’re for your benefit and hers, so use them, but use them wisely.”
“Well, I’m glad that you gave me this advice now, after I already f@&ked things up. What the hell do I do now?”

I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, "No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book." I didn't think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn't already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven't been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.

BOOK BLITZ for "Law & Disorder" by Liv Arnold

Law & Disorder
by Liv Arnold
Published by: The Wild Rose Press
Publication date: March 18th, 2019
Genres: Contemporary, Erotica, Romance
Lawyer Juliet Jackson has come head to head with Sergeant Jesse Burns on numerous occasions in court. He is provoking. Pigheaded. Punch-worthy. They don’t get along. Not one little bit. The unfortunate fact he’s also her next-door neighbor brings her loathing off the charts. But when Juliet’s caught locked outside her home in nothing but a skimpy towel, she must swallow her pride and turn to Jesse for help. She doesn’t expect the explosive chemistry between them and can’t help but wonder if Jesse’s as demanding in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom.
EXCERPT:
His handsome face smirked before he averted his eyes and turned his head, but she could still see the profile of his face. His police uniform stretched across his chest. Wonder if that chest is chiseled underneath all those clothes.
Her ears burned hotter than chili sauce, spreading to her neck and chest. No point in putting on a mask this time, because there was no escaping this. Her fingers found the ends of the towel to cover her naked body, but her legs froze on the spot. “I got locked out of my house.”
“You got locked out of your house…naked?” A grin spread across his face, revealing the dimple on the bottom lip. She wanted to bite it but didn’t know if it was to hurt him or because of the temperature between her legs.
Scowling at his sarcasm, her fingers gripped the bricks of her house and she pulled herself up. “Yes. Why are you even here? Didn’t you have enough of me this morning?
“Never enough.”

BOOK BLITZ for "Object of My Desire" by R.L. Kenderson

Object of My Desire
by R.L. Kenderson
Publication date: March 14th, 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
A romance author, a cover model, a book signing … a crush.
Ordinary women like me know we shouldn’t fall for beautiful men like Travis Zehler, one of the hottest cover models in romance fiction. But, sometimes, we can’t help ourselves.
When I meet him at a book signing, my attraction to him is instant. I’m infatuated, and I can’t stop thinking about him.
Even though I have doubts he’d ever be interested, I invite Travis to attend a book signing with me. And he says yes.
My fantasy comes true when he takes me to his bed, and the more time we spend together, the more I see that Travis isn’t some object to be desired.
He’s a man with a past. A man who’s been burned. A man who’s learned to keep his guard up.
I want to show him he can trust again, but when our confidence in each other is shaken, I begin to wonder if happily ever afters are only for my romance novels.

Excerpt:

I grabbed two wineglasses from the cupboard and poured us each a glass. I drank my first glass because I was in for the night and because I could, and then I went to find my own phone. It was buried deep in my purse.
I unlocked my screen to see that Travis had messaged me a couple of times.
Travis: Whatcha doin’?
Travis: I’m sitting here, thinking I had more fun last Saturday.
I laughed. “Serves you right,” I said to my phone. I also didn’t know where here was, and I was proud of myself for not memorizing his schedule.
I opened my camera to take a rare selfie. I put my glass to my lips and held the camera high. Click.
Me: I’m at home where I just opened a bottle of wine.
And Send.
Travis: I want to be that wine.
Ooh, he was flirting again. This man was such a tease.
I downed the rest of my wine exactly like I’d been taught not to do and took a picture of the empty glass.
Me: Too late. It’s all inside me now.
Travis: Now, I really want to be that wine.
Travis: BTW, thanks for giving me a fricking hard-on at my aunt’s wedding.
I burst out laughing. That was right. His aunt was getting married for, like, the fourth time or something like that, and Travis did not want to be there.
Me: #sorrynotsorry
Me: I’ve been wet for almost a week, so I don’t feel bad for you.
Clearly, the wine had already gone straight to my head.
Travis: Send me another picture. This time, naked.
Me: Ha. Never going to happen. If you want to see me naked, you’re going to have to do it in person.
Travis: Hold that thought.
Harper came back into the kitchen. “What’d I miss?” she asked as she picked up her wine.
I scrolled to the top of my messages and handed her my phone. “Come on. Let’s go relax on the couch.”
I grabbed the bottle of wine and took it with me as Harper slowly walked and read behind me. I set the bottle on the coffee table and dropped down onto the couch.
Harper plopped down next to me and gave me back my phone. “Wow.”
“You think so?”
She took a sip of her wine. “Now, you know why he didn’t invite you.”
“Yeah, way too early for a wedding date, especially a family wedding.”
“Has he texted you back yet?”
I checked my phone. “Nope.”
“What do you think he meant by hold on?”
I shrugged. “Beats the hell out of me.”
Harper gasped and sat forward. “You don’t think he’s going to send you a naked pic first?” Her eyes rounded. “He’s going to send you a dick pic.”
I took a drink of my wine and shook my head. “Please, no. I really like him, and I want him to be smart enough to know that women don’t want pictures of penises.” I held up a finger. “However, I wouldn’t turn down a full nude. But it doesn’t mean I’m sending him anything in return.”
******
An hour passed without anything else from Travis. But, by then, Harper and I were on our second bottle of wine, and I didn’t care too much that he hadn’t gotten back to me. I was tipsy, and he was with his family.
It was just after eleven when Harper yawned. “Maybe it’s time for us to put our pajamas on.”
“What? No way. We have to stay up and party.”
“This from the girl who, earlier tonight, said that it sounded like Travis had an exhausting social life.”
“That’s before I turned my bloodstream into an alcohol-stream.”
“How soon you forget that you party until you crash, and then it’s lights out for you for the rest of the night.”
I took a sip of my wine. “I beg to differ.”
“Your twenty-second birthday. You made it up the stairs where you sat down and promptly fell asleep with your head on the top stair.”
“Okay, you might have a point.”
Harper pursed her lips. “There is no might about it.”
“Okay, let’s go change. We can party in our pajamas.”
Harper stood. “A party with just the two of us?”
“Three of us,” I corrected. “We have Maleficent, too.”
Harper looked over at my cat, who was sleeping upside down on my chair.
I shrugged and laughed. I pushed myself off the couch to go upstairs where the two of us could change when the doorbell rang.
Our eyes met.
“Who would be at your house this late at night?”
“I don’t know.” I gasped. “It’s a rapist. A murder. A murdering rapist. Or would it be a raping murderer?”
“You watch too much TV.”
“Scoff all you want, but I saw an episode of Forensic Files where a guy knocked on a woman’s door in the middle of the night, left, came back, raped her, and left her for dead. And that shit is real life.”
“I’m going to go and peek out the window.”
I grabbed Harper’s arm. “No. What if he sees you?”
“What if it’s a she?”
I straightened my spine. “You think a woman wants to rape and murder us?”
Harper rolled her eyes and pushed my hand off her. The second she went to go to the window, my phone rang.
I screeched and jumped.
I picked it up from where it sat on the couch, and Harper and I both said, “It’s Travis,” at the same time.
I looked up. “How did you know Travis was calling me?”
She pointed out the window and grinned. “I didn’t. Travis is outside.”

Adaline Frost’s life officially sucks. Now that her BFF has found her true love, Addy is constantly stuck being the third wheel. On top of that, she hasn’t started her junior project yet, so her advisor pairs her up with what could only be described as the “Reject Breakfast Club.” Instead of the weirdo and the troublemaker, Addy is forced to work with two stoners, a popular girl, and her crush, Austin Reed, the jock who broke her heart.
Austin Reed is sick of being labeled “dumb jock.” If he doesn’t get an A on this project, he can kiss his future goodbye. Austin thought he’d gotten lucky being partners with the very nerdy Adaline Frost, but boy was he wrong. Addy jumps down his throat about his being late and calls him names like “manwhore” on the daily. She has no idea Austin works before and after school in order to help his mom with the bills. Yeah, he’s made mistakes and has had lots of girlfriends, but he doesn’t need Adaline Frost to remind him of it every time he sees her.
Can Austin and Addy ever be a thing?
Right Girl Wrong Timing is book 3 in the Offsides series by Natalie Decker.

Excerpt:

It’s like my body is on GPS vibe, and I sense her before I see her. Adaline enters the commons, and Brock is talking about something, but I’m no longer listening to him. “Hey, Brock, scoot your ass down one,” I say.
He lifts his head and gawks around. “Grab another chair, and pull it up for her,” he says.
Slick move. I’ll take it. “You still gotta move down. I want her close, man, not really you in my lap.”
He laughs as he slides his chair down, making room for me to pull another chair for Adaline in its place. I steal one from the table next to me. I hope to hell she’s coming over here, otherwise I’ll feel stupid.
She reaches the table and mumbles. “Got a minute before everyone else arrives?”
I pat the empty chair next to me. “Sure.”
            “I don’t think I should sit there.”
I frown. “Ads, please take the seat.”
She rolls her eyes. “All right. Only if you stop pouting.”
Brock barks out a laugh as she plops down next to me. I grip the edge of her chair and pull her close to me. Our legs touch, and her eyes widen. “That’s better. You were too far away, and you know how crappy my attention is.”
She looks as if she’s half tempted to slap me. I wouldn’t blame her. “You’re impossible. You know that?” Irritation laces her words. “I was thinking since we must work together, we should get one thing straight. This will not be a repeat of our history project.”
Wow. She’s really scorned. I mean, I got she was mad at me but damn. She knows how to kick a dude while he’s down. “How many times do I have to apologize to you?” I whisper.
“I’ll catch you later, man,” Brock says, and he leaves.
I wait until he’s gone before I clasp Adaline’s chin and direct her attention to me. Her eyes narrow. “Don’t. Can we forget about it and just move on?”
I lean toward Adaline. Her breath hitches slightly. I dip my mouth close to Adaline’s ear and whisper, “We’re not done discussing this. Far from it.”

Gothel is a witch. Punished for the actions of her mother, her choice is simple: either she stands guard over Princess Rapunzel — or she dies. Protecting Rapunzel means watching as the princess lays trapped in a tower, bedridden by hair that is so long and heavy it’s slowly driving her insane. Gothel’s life has become one of imprisonment and solitude as well — until a prince and his handsome squire appear at the tower.
Only one object can cut Rapunzel’s hair and end the curse: a pair of magical shears. But the shears are guarded by the most terrifying witches in the land, who also happen to be Gothel’s aunts. As Gothel and the prince’s squire, Raj Talmund, work to form a plan, she finds herself more and more drawn to the mysterious young man from the Outerlands. ~ BOOK REVIEW for The Witch's Tower ~

****(4) out of 5 Stars!

This is a very different take on the traditional Rapunzel story.  Instead of being the "bad guy" (or girl, as it were), Gothel is actually the hero of this tale.  She sets out - first with the aid of the prince's squire, and later a rather odd assortment of characters - on a quest in hopes of retreiving the golden shears from her aunts, ending the curse, and setting Rapunzel - as well as herself! - free.  Of course, things are never as simple as they should be, and there are a lot of twists and turns to their tale, a lot of hardships to be overcome.  But the original pair do eventually make it back to Rapunzel's tower, where their destiny awaits them.

I quite enjoyed this unusual version of the fairy tale.  The characters were all quite interesting, from Gothel and Raj, to Rapunzel and the prince, to their traveling companions and various other characters that they come across, even Jester the cat.  (Although I wish he'd had a larger role!)  Many of the personalities seem like they have much larger stories to tell, and since this is the first in a series, I'm hopeful that we get to see more of many of them in future volumes.

There were a few items that either didn't exactly jive with other aspects of the narrative or that weren't given the attention they seemed to warrant.  And much of the dialogue was stilted and felt rather unnatural.  But the story itself was quite fun, and the characters delightful.  It definitely kept me engaged and wondering what was going to happen next.  I'm looking forward to additional tales from this world.

Excerpt:

Moonlight illuminated the tower as Raj and I crossed into the meadow. The handcart’s wheels squeaked as I pulled it to a stop at the base of the tower. Raj had been true to his word and purchased all the supplies we needed for winter. I couldn’t complain—I was grateful he’d done it. I only hoped he didn’t expect a miracle in return.
Now I had the chore of transporting everything into the tower. Luckily, I’d brought my largest knapsack. As I loaded vessels of lentils, bags of flour, and a few jars of syrup into my bag, Raj stood over me.
“You’re bringing all that up there?” he asked.
“It’s better than leaving it down here.”
“You really live up there all the time?”
“Yes, I only ever come out to gather edibles, or when we’re desperate for supplies.”
“But how do you get water?”
“We have a well inside the tower. Can you help me?” I tossed him an empty burlap sack. If he was so insistent on being here, he might as well help me.
“It seems like a lonely existence.”
I eyed him. Lonely? What did he know of loneliness? I didn’t feel like admitting to this stranger how desperately lonely the past five years had been, how I lay awake at night wishing I had someone to talk to, feeling as if the silence would drive me to insanity. No, he didn’t need to know any of that.
“It’s not that bad. Rapunzel isn’t one for talking, but we have a cat. His name is Jester. He keeps me company most of the time.”
“A cat?”
“Yes. He’s mostly feral. But he’s friendly enough, and he comes and goes as he pleases. He’s even learned to climb the vines to get in and out of the tower. He’s quite clever.” I adjusted the pack’s straps on my shoulders. “Now, let’s get up there before Rapunzel…” I stopped myself. “Let’s get up there.”
With the pack strapped to my back, I turned to the tower. Wind rushed past, battering my hair against my cheeks, as I prepared to speak the spell.
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!” My words carried on the wind, echoing through the forest.
I waited, nervousness making my hands grow clammy as I held to the pack’s straps, but why did I feel so uneasy? Was it because Raj was with me?

I turned to him. He stood with haunting dark eyes as he watched a coil of ropy, matted hair drop from the tower’s only window high above us. I stepped to the length of hair and grabbed it, holding my breath against the scent of unwashed scalp. I never got used to that smell.
“Should I follow you?” Raj asked.
“Yes. But let me enter first.” Gripping the hair tightly, I started the climb. I made my way toward the window at the top of the tower. Halfway up, my muscles burned, and I focused on breathing to make it the rest of the way. This part was always the hardest, and the sack of supplies weighing me down wasn’t helping. Why did Varlocke have to put his daughter into such an impossibly tall tower?
When I reached the window, I grabbed the ledge. The worn stones felt smooth under my palms as I climbed over, then landed inside. As I straightened, I pulled off the pack and left it on the floor, then focused on the room. Moonlight illuminated the bare stones walls, the well sitting at the room’s center, the wooden chairs, roughly-hewn tables, huge bookcases cluttered with dusty spell journals and vials, and the bed where Rapunzel lay.
I stepped over the matted coils of hair. Pieces of rat and bird bones lay trapped in the knotted strands, seeming to glow white against the dark hair. The sound of gnawing stopped me.
She wasn’t.
“Rapunzel,” I said quietly. “What are you doing?”
The gnawing continued. I approached her on quiet feet, afraid of what I might find. Behind me, Raj scrambled inside the room.
Please don’t let it be the prince.
When I reached her side, her pale, skeleton-white skin glowed in the moonlight. She held a rat.
I exhaled, grateful it was only a rodent and not something—someone—else. A crust of bread and a handful of wild beets sat on the bedside table, but they were untouched.
Raj’s footsteps echoed, and I turned to face him. His tall, lean frame looked so out of place. Only the high sorcerer ever visited, and to have an Outlander squire inside my home unnerved me.
“Is she eating something?” he asked. “What is that?”
“Sorry. It’s the cat’s fault. He catches them and leaves them on her lap. He thinks he’s giving her a prize or something. Rapunzel does that with them sometimes—with the rats—eats them, I mean.” I stumbled over my words, feeling immeasurably mortified that Raj had to see it. But it could’ve been worse.
I approached her. She looked up, as if only seeing me now, and she hissed. With her red-rimmed eyes, it looked as if she hadn’t been sleeping, and her collarbones seemed to be protruding more than I remembered. Her white gown hung off her meatless frame, but at least it was the clean one I’d left for her. She’d managed to change clothes—at least there was that.
“Where is the prince?” Raj asked.
“I don’t know.” I scanned the room. With the large piles of hair covering the floor, he could’ve been hidden, but we should’ve seen some clue he was here—his feet or a hand poking out. Something. “You’re certain he came up here?”
“Yes, positive.”
I studied the tower more thoroughly but didn’t see anything that resembled the prince. Odd. Where was he?
“Rapunzel,” I said, turning to her, “we’re looking for a prince. Have you seen him?”
She shook her head, clutching the rat, her fingers digging into the carcass.
“Please,” Raj said. “I need to find him. His father is the king. He’ll be very sad if he loses his only son. Can’t you tell us where he is?”
Rapunzel focused on the man, but she remained silent. Outside, the sky lightened. Pink streaked through the gray as dawn approached. As the sun rose, sunlight streamed into the room, giving light to the dark places. Something thudded inside the well, and Raj followed me as I maneuvered around the coiled hair toward the raised ring of stones surrounding the deep drop that went straight through the bottom of the tower.
“Is there something in the well?” Raj asked.
“Someone probably.”
I pried open the lid. Sitting atop the wide-mouthed bucket was the prince, who stared up at us with a vacant expression. Hair coiled around him as blue bands of magic wrapped his wrists and ankles. I grabbed his tunic with both hands and attempted to lug him out. He was heavier than he looked.
“How’d he get in there?” Raj asked.
“Rapunzel. She tried to throw him down, I assume.”
“She can do that?”
“With her hair, yes. She’s clever when she’s motivated.”
“He was looking at me!” Rapunzel yelled. Well, at least she was finally speaking.

Omegas

(THIS IS A RE-RELEASE.)

REVIEW:

***(3) out of 5 stars!

I enjoyed this book, but I felt like it could have been a whole lot more. I liked the concept of paranormals living among real humans, the omegas banding together to form their own little support group, the idea of the underdog coming into his own and besting the jerk alpha. However, the characters felt a bit hollow to me, like they could have been fleshed out quite a bit more. The relationship between Sugar adn Daedalus in particular could have used a lot more attention. Overall, it was a fun read, but I just didn't feel that it lived up to its potential. I am hopeful that perhaps future volumes in the series will flesh things out a bit more.

I received a free eBook copy of this title from the author,

and have willingly provided an honest review.

EXCERPT:
I feel him pull away slowly, his lips feather light against mine until he’s completely gone. And like a flower misses the sun’s warmth at night, I miss Damon’s lips against mine. His warmth seeps into me, showing me a side of him I’d been certain didn’t exist. My brown eyes bleed into his sleepy, coffee-colored ones. His gaze never wavers from mine, and I watch as something swims in his eyes—an unreadable emotion. Deep down, I know I’ll be okay. I don’t know how I know this or why, but I can feel it in Damon’s gaze—like a protective blanket coating my body.
The moment ends, and with little effort, Damon pulls me to his chest. I rest my head against his warm skin. The sound of his heart beating fills my ears, its steady rhythm calming me. As his hands glide down my arms, goosebumps cover my skin.
After today, I was certain I’d never let him touch me again, but now I’m not so sure.
His hold on me tightens, instinctually, as if he wants to make sure I don’t go anywhere. Shock twists deep inside me as he brings his other hand to my head, burying his thick fingers into my brown mane. When he starts playing with the natural curls at the ends of each strand, I nearly moan.
His touch relaxes me, soothes me. I don’t want this moment between us to end.
“Don’t be scared. You have no reason to be scared of me.” He licks his lips before smiling at me. “I’m a bastard, a killer, and the worst man to be in your presence, but I’ll do whatever I can to protect you,” he whispers before his hand stills in my hair, cradling my head against his body.
