BOOK REVIEW for "Escort" by Skye Warren

Escort, a sexy new contemporary romance standalone from New York Times bestselling author Skye Warren is now LIVE!

SYNOPSIS:

There is no shame in pleasure. And no love in business.

I have a blind date tonight, and I know with 100% certainty that I'm getting lucky. There shouldn't be any surprises, not for one as jaded as me, but when I walk into the penthouse suite of L'Etoile, everything changes.

1) For one thing, Bea is heartstoppingly gorgeous. Pale green eyes and endless freckles. Curves I want to spend all night exploring, as if her body was made for me.

2) Her innocence makes me want to use my entire inventory of bedroom tricks on her and then invent a few more.

3) Except that... she’s a virgin.

I can initiate her into the world of desire without letting her get attached, can't I? A few hours of tutoring, and at the end of the night a small fortune will be deposited into my bank account.

Yes, you read that right. There are many words for what I do. After all, mine is the oldest profession. I'm an escort, which means this date is nothing more than a mutually enjoyable transaction.

But once I realize one night with her won’t be enough, I’m the one who's screwed.

REVIEW:

****(4) out of 5 Stars!

So the general premise here is pretty unrealistic (comparisons to Pretty Woman come to mind), and there are a few coincidences in the narrative that really stretch the bounds of believability.  But other than that, this is a really good book!

A kind-of insta-love between a male escort and the rather different young woman who hires him.  Let's just say that neither is what the other one expected, but each is what the other needs.  Hugo and Bea each have their own quirks, demons, and other assorted baggage.  Despite all of that, as well as their age difference and the rather unusual employer-employee nature of their relationship, they just seem to click with one another.  That neither ever thought they'd find someone to feel that way about is an added bonus.

There are some dark themes in the story related to each of their pasts.  And as the story progresses, Hugo and Bea have some serious issues to overcome.  The fact that each makes significant sacrifices for the other, however, does help to mitigate some problems though, and certainly does a lot to strengthen their love for one another.  This is a fairly easy and quick read, about a couple of adoreable and intriguing characters; one that I definitely recommend for lovers of Contemporary Romance with an Insta-love Rags-to-Riches theme.
