REVIEW:
I rather enjoyed this cute story about last chances. Of course, I am a sucker for contemporary romance in general. And the fact that the setting was a no-kill animal shelter certainly didn't hurt.
All of the main characters were very distinctive individuals with their own quirks, with whom I found it easy to make a connection. Will and Pressley were both vulnerable, adorable personas who it was fun to watch come together. But my favorite character had to be Jasper, the German Shepherd/Mastiff mix who was well past his quota of chances.
Most of the action of the story was back and forth about whether or not Jasper was going to be put to sleep for being too aggressive. The whole concept started getting real annoying before too long. But since it was used as one of the major plot devices, it would have been hard to avoid.
I found quite a few things to be rather implausible, not the leat of which was how little these supposedly veteran pet care givers seemed to know about animal behavior and training.
Overall though, it was a quick, fun, clean, and (eventually) uplifting tale. One that I would definitely recommend for dog lovers and romantics alike.
