I was totally prepared to just hate Gabriel, especially after he kidnapped Tabitha.  Not to mention his various interactions with the Black Wolf pack, including previously kidnapping Adele, basically trying to kill Rafe, etc.  What I had not planned on was feeling at all sympathetic to Gabriel's plight.  He's been searching for his mate a very long time though; long in the sense of recent events, not to mention long over the course of his lifetime.  

At first, Tabitha is none too happy with him either.  And she spends her time doing nothing but trying to figure out how to escape, even attempting to do so on more than one occasion.  Because she is not the type of woman who wants to be held captive or even just kept, regardless of what amazing things she is surrounded by.

Other than their physical attraction, there is not much to persuade Tabitha to hang around, because while Gabriel wants to give her the world, he does not want to share any part of himself with her.  He thinks he's being strong and brave; she thinks he's being deceptive and withholding. 

Part of the issue is that he has old-fashioned ideas about love and courtship; very old, as in Middle Ages old.  In fact, considering where and when he came from, his attitude is actually quite progressive.  But it does take quite a bit before he realizes just how much he has to change in order to be a part of Tabitha's modern world, and to have any chance of keeping her.  

Luckily, he does finally begin to loosen up, and even more importantly to open up around her.  Once she feels that he is really trying to make a connection, they finally have a real chance at coming together in any meaningful way.  Not that outside factors don't come in to play, however, that certainly shake things up; and that's before we even get to the dragon!

Studying auras was like a siren's road map of the human soul, telling her the most important information of who and what a person was in that moment.

This was a delightful little fantasy romance tale about a seemingly ill-matched couple.  Set near Valentine's Day and involving a cupid, it would be the perfect read around the season of love.  But, really, it makes for a good story any time of year!

His siren was a closet geek, and he sort of loved that about her.

Chance has been crazy about Elodie for ages, ever since their first meeting.  Truth be told, she had been hopeless attracted to him for just as long; not that she'd ever admit it, especially not to herself.  But with the excuse of the love arrow that impaled them both, she at least had some cover to let loose and enjoy some intimate time with Chance.     

Sirens were off limits for other supernaturals to kill.

And enjoy it they did!  There are some mighty toasty scenes that occur within this story, that's for sure.  But there is also the development of a deeper connection between these two.  As well as some outside intrigue and danger.  Definitely a book that I recommend for a fun, romantic, dirty, and sweet read, all on the way to their very own happily-ever-after!

This was... not my favorite Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild tale.  I don't know why; this story was perfectly fine.  But I just wasn't feeling it this time around!  Maybe it was just the extremely slow burn aspect of their romance, but there just wasn't a lot of obvious chemistry between Zander and Caroline.  Plus, they were both rather annoying and kept perseverating on their own things.  Additionally, the main premise of the story was also very slow, with not a lot going on there, or even making much sense.  Sadly, I was just rather disappointed in this one.  Not to mention, I couldn't figure out how they would even be able to be together in the future, given Caroline's new-found career path.  It was still a book about the Landrys, so that is always fun.  And there was a lot of interaction between many of the family members in this episode.  But even much of that felt rather forced.  As did the introduction of several new characters, who it seems quite apparent could be starring in future books.  Who knows though, maybe by the next time we visit the bayou I'll be feeling it more!  Still, as with just about any book by Erin Nicholas, it was definitely this side of bad, just not quite as stellar as some of her others.

This is another great book in this wonderful series!  I did NOT like Cedric in Not His Dragon, other than the fact that at least he was honorable; but I did come to like him quite a bit as we saw more of him in some of the other tales.  Here we really get to know him, and I was truly impressed with how thoughtful he was as a suitor.  Not to mention how forward-thinking his ideas were for someone of his age and upbringing.  

Bella was sweet and innocent; and a bit of an idiot, if you ask me.  The situations she kept putting herself in were just dumb and basically lead to all of the conflict in the story.

These two do not seem like a very likely match in the beginning, but the more we see them together the more apparent it becomes that they are perfect for one another.  

The outside influences here were a bit much for me.  There was a scene at the near end which I had a very hard time with.  And this was considering it was regarding made-up characters of a fantasy nature!  But it really upset me.  

Otherwise, however, most of the tail was fun, delightful, and entertaining.  I especially enjoyed one of the final hurdles that these two had to overcome, or rather what brought about the resolution (with the help of Bella's parents, no less!).

Seeing prior characters from previous books in the series is always fun, especially when they are viewed in a new light or different situation, as occurred here with several of them.  There were also several new characters introduced, ranging from delightful to dreadful.  Bob was most definitely my favorite character of the entire book!

I don't know if the author has plans for any additional volumes in this series, but I would love to hear more stories of additional members of the New Port paranormal society — especially Eoin's family — falling in love and being mated!

I'm not much of a fan of second-chance romance, but I must say that this one was pretty good. Of course, it was a lot more tolerable in this instance because the couple had only been broken up for six months (not the years seen in many of this type of story). And they hadn't broken up due to some huge transgression of either party, just one of them freaking out at how serious things were getting between them. Also, neither of them was with anyone else in the meantime.

I did have a hard time connecting with Lucy, especially at first. She was just so mean! And while I kind of understood her reasoning about not wanting to get too involved, I also thought it was a cop out. Not to mention how immature she was in handling many things, especially their initial breakup. Most of their problems could have been solved with some good communication.

Tanner, on the other hand, was a true gem! Despite some initial resentment at being forced to work with Lucy, and mostly because of her poor attitude toward him, he very quickly starts being as nice as can be to her, even when he doesn't think there is any chance they'll ever be together again. Once they decide to try things again at least to some extent, he is like the perfect boyfriend. Not sure that she deserved him, actually.

Something in her spoke to something in me, and just like that, I knew I loved her.

While they came from vastly different backgrounds and had different types of baggage they were carrying around, they both had HORRIBLE families! I mean, these were truly awful people. I cannot believe how much Lucy let her mother and brother take advantage of her for so long; and how gullible she was when it came to her mom especially. Tanner's father was a real piece of work as well, with no apparent redeeming qualities at all. Tanner did at least have some half-way decent siblings. (Of course, with there being 8 of them, you'd hope that somebody turned out good!)

When they both learn to finally start standing up for themselves and each other, that's when things really start getting good. (But before that, seriously, they would have been better off running away together to join the circus! LOL!)

And it's always fun to see characters from other books making guest appearances.

I can hardly wait to read the next installment to find out what happens to Tanner's brother Ryan...
