Lilith has chosen the guy of her dreams and has settled into a life that she thinks is perfect. But nothing is ever as it seems. She will soon face the ultimate betrayal by someone she loves deeply.

1) What gave you the inspiration for the
storyline?
When I first started writing this book there was no destination, no
story line, no characters in mind. This story literally developed as I wrote
it. Since my book didn’t have a storyline it took me almost a year to write
only eleven chapters. When my mom died last year in July, I needed an outlet
for all of the pain I was feeling. So, I sat down and wrote. I wrote until
there was a storyline, until there were characters to write about, until it had
a destination. Within three weeks the book was completely finished. So, I
guess I could say that my mom inspired the storyline.
2) Are there any hidden themes in the
book that you hope readers will discover?
There aren’t any hidden themes in my book but one thing I want readers
to do is, no matter what you’re facing or what situation is kicking your butt,
fight back. Lilith turns out to be a strong young woman who when faced with the
most difficult situations she fought back. Fight for what you want, for what
you believe in, for your family. Just fight back.
3) Are any of the characters based on
real people you know?
The characters aren’t based on real people but some of the things that
has happened in the story are from real events. For instance, Lilith suffers
with self-harm and I myself suffer from the same thing. Granted, I haven’t
self-harmed in almost five years but every day I struggle with the urge to do
so. Lilith’s rape and the loss of her parents were true events. I lost my
mother. Things I wrote about were things I actually had feelings towards.
4) Who has influenced you most as a
writer?
Edgar Allen Poe influenced me the most. I read his poem Annabel Lee
when I was ten years old and from that moment I knew I wanted to be a writer. I
started out writing poems. After pages and pages of poems I decided I wanted to
write more. I had so many ideas floating around in my head that I knew would
make great stories. So, I decided to write books. I still dabble in poetry
which can be seen in some of the spells in this book.
5) If you could have any three literary
characters over to your place for game night, who would you invite, what would
you play, what would you serve, and why?
I would have to invite Edgar Allen Poe, Lola St. Vil and K. A. Poe
over for a game night. We would play Clue and I would serve Pickle-Roll Ups,
Meatball Sliders and Cheesecake Raviolis. I would invite K.A.Poe because she is
one of my favorite authors and Edgar Allen Poe because he was my inspiration to
become a writer. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I would
invite Lola St. Vil because when my mother died I was knees deep in depression.
I didn’t get out of bed, wouldn’t eat, I cried nonstop. I didn’t talk to my
husband, wouldn’t have anything to do with my children. I mean I was in a real
bad place. The heartbreak I was feeling was all consuming. One day I was laying
in bed after hours of crying when I decided to read something. Lola’s book The
Girl from her Guardians series popped up on my Kindle as being free. It looked
interesting so I downloaded it and read it. Once I read it, there was no
stopping me. I read the full series plus the spin off The Noru Series. Lola St.
Vil’s writing brought me back to life. Those books made me cry, filled me with
excitement and anticipation but most of all, her writing made me laugh. It’s not
very often that a writer can change someone so drastically and I feel like she
literally saved my life.
Author Bio:Jessica started writing when she was 10 years old. She started out writing poetry which has been published in several Poetry Society books as well as on the Internet. She won the Publisher’s Choice Award for her poem A Lost Soul. She has always had an addiction to reading which is what lead her to become an author. Her debut book is Corruption of the Heart.
