BLOG TOUR & BOOK REVIEW for "UNlucky in Love" by A.J. Renee

Lucky in Love.
That’s the name of the dating app I picked, hoping to find Mr. Better Than Average so I can hold off planning my future as a cat lady.
I’ve been distracted eyeballing a tall, dark, and handsome Latin hottie who works in the library with me. He is way out of my league, and a woman has needs if you know what I mean.
Finding a man shouldn’t be hard when all I have to do is swipe left or right. It’ll weed out the slimy men who have Bad Date written all over them.
Yeah, I’m learning quickly that I’m rather unlucky in love after all. The men I pick need warning labels, kissing lessons, and a good talking-to about manners.
Should I throw in the towel, or will this series of bad dates be exactly what I need to win Mr. Right?

REVIEW:

***(3) out of 5 Stars!

This is a quick, fun read.  I enjoyed the core group of characters immensely.   Izzy was a hoot, Val and Jerry were like the best ever friend and boss (respectively), and Mario ended up being a great guy.

The horrible dates that Izzy had reminded me of some of the doozies that I had in my younger, single days.  They are fun to laugh about now, but at the time they were quite depressing and occasionally a little scary.

I did think Izzy seemed a bit immature for a supposedly mid-20's student pursuing a master's degree.  I would have found it more believable had she been listed as an undergrad, possibly a freshman.

I also found it odd how Izzy considered Mario way out of her league, yet she talks about how pretty she is and how much guys are attracted to her throughout the book.  And when she does finally get a chance with Mario, there is no mention again of him being too good for her, not even a little self-doubt, at least not in that regard.

Overall, it was a cute, funny, uplifting story with a happy ending.  I just found some parts of it a bit unrealistic.
