Publication date: October 1st, 2018
Genres: Contemporary, Fairy Tales, Romance
From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery comes a dark and twisted retelling of the beloved fairytale, Cinderella!
My name is Ashley Ellis…
I was thirteen years old when my mother – retired supermodel, Tig – married Mosier Răumann, who was twice her age and the head of the Răumann crime family.
When I turned eighteen, my mother mysteriously died. Only then did I discover the dark plans my stepfather had in store for me all along; the debauched “work” he expected me to do.
With the help of my godfather, Gus, I have escaped from Mosier’s clutches, but his twin sons and henchmen have been tasked with hunting me down. And they will stop at nothing to return my virgin body to their father …dead or alive.
***Due to profanity and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.***

~AUTHOR INTERVIEW with Katy Regnery~
- What gave you the inspiration for the
storyline?
To be really honest, I have never loved
the story of Cinderella… but at some point, I decided that if I’m going to
write her, I’m really going to torture her! LOL!
Okay. No, seriously. Here’s what I did…
Basically, I looked at the characters
and bones of the story.
Characters: dead mother, dead father,
orphaned girl, stepmother, stepsisters, fairy godmother, prince charming.
Bones: Girl loses parents. Girl lives
with malicious stepparent and stepsiblings. Girl is made to work like a slave.
Girl loses hope. Girl meets prince who gives her hope. Girl almost loses
prince. Prince finds girl. Girl and Prince live happily ever after.
Once I had the characters and bones
outlined, I could change things up! How about a stepfather instead of a stepmother? How about making the sort of “work”
the girl has to do really amoral? How
about a fairy godfather instead of a
fairy godmother? How about our Prince has some issues of his own?
From there? Honestly, it was cake. And
what a blast I had writing it!
- Are there any hidden themes in the book
that you hope readers will discover?
Hmm. Themes. Well, I guess “second
chances” and “redemption” always play important roles in my books, but they’re
not exactly hidden. A more sweeping theme might be the complexity of the
mother-daughter relationship, and how it’s never too late to mend it.
- Are any of the characters based on real
people you know?
Not especially and not on purpose! But I
suppose all of my characters are, in some way, composites of real people who
have impacted my life or stirred my imagination. I mean, I don’t know any mob
bosses, but I’ve seen plenty of movies that gave me a place to start when
writing Mosier. And I don’t know any glassblowers personally, but I watched a
ton of videos about glassblowing at the Simon Pearce factory in Vermont. So,
no, none of the characters are based on friends and family, but a combination
of research and experience blended to create them.
- If you could have any three literary
characters over to your place for game night, who would you invite, and
why?
Great question! Oh, Lord, there are too
many…so let’s see…it’s me and these three at the table, right? I
think…Elizabeth Bennett (Pride &
Prejudice), maybe. I love her so completely and she’s just one of the sassiest,
most interesting heroines ever. And maybe Bathsheba Everdene (Far from the Madding Crowd) because she
was so strong. She wouldn’t marry for
comfort or convenience. Then she did marry
for sex (!!) And only later she married for love. She learned a lot about the
different seasons of love. And lastly…I think Sara Fielding (Dreaming of You) because she’s another
great romantic heroine who was underestimated by the men around her! What a
great dinner that would be!
- Do you feel that you can ever have too
many books?
Of course not! Have you ever tried
cleaning out a book shelf? I end up sitting on the floor for hours, reading my
favorite passages, and chuckling over clever writing. And in the end? I feel a
great need to go out and buy a few more. 😊
