BLOG TOUR & AUTHOR INTERVIEW for "Moribund (Circuit Fae, #1)" by Genevieve Iseult Eldredge

Moribund
(Circuit Fae, #1)
by Genevieve Iseult Eldredge
Published by: Monster House Books
Publication date: September 12th, 2017
Genres: LGBTQ+, Urban Fantasy,
Young Adult
Dark Fae. Romance. Evil Plots. High school. Our heroines could be in for the greatest adventure ever.
If only they could decide whether to kill or kiss each other.
High school sophomore Syl Skye is an ordinary girl. At least, she’s trying to be. School photographer and all-around geek, she introverts hard and keeps her crush on sexy-hot glam-Goth alt-rock star Euphoria on the down-low. But when a freak accident Awakens her slumbering power, Syl is forced to accept a destiny she never wanted—as the last sleeper-princess of the fair Fae.
Suddenly hunted by the dark Fae, Syl’s pretty sure things can’t get any worse. Until she discovers her secret crush, Euphoria, is really a dark Circuit Fae able to harness the killing magic in technology. Even worse, she’s been sent to destroy Syl.
With mean girls and magic and dark Fae trying to kill her, it’ll take more than just “clap if you believe in fairies” to save Syl’s bacon—not to mention, her heart.
Perfect for readers of romance, urban fantasy, fairy stories and LGBT.

~AUTHOR INTERVIEW with Genevieve Iseult Eldredge~

1) What gave you the inspiration for the storyline?

I’ve always been intrigued by Fae mythology, so when Christina, the founder of Monster House Books, approached me about Circuit Fae, I jumped at the chance. We wanted a different take on the Fae and hit upon the idea of Fae using technology to leverage their power in the mortal realm.
I liked the idea of the “dark circuitry”—the Moribund—being part machine/part organic/part Fae magic. From there, I designed Agravaine, the primary villain of Moribund who controls Rouen and tries to kill Syl.
2) Are there any hidden themes in the book that you hope readers will discover?

Oh my! Should a lady tell all of her secrets? ;) I like to turn tropes on their ear a little, so you’ll see some of that in Circuit Fae. Like the idea of the fair Fae being “good.” In the world of the Circuit Fae, “fair” does not mean “good,” and “dark” does not mean “evil.”

3) Are any of the characters based on real people you know?

I find I don’t really base characters on real people at all. I do study people at large, though, and I find people’s motivations fascinating.

4) Who has influenced you most as a writer?

I feel as though everything influences me in some way, whether it’s a technique I want to adopt or a trope I want to avoid. I’m an avid reader and pop culture nerd. As for literary influences, I’ll name Tolkien, David Eddings, and Tanya Huff as my early influences with current influences along the lines of Sarah J Maas, Leigh Bardugo, and Laini Taylor.

5) If you could have any three literary characters over to your place for game night, who would you invite, what would you play, what would you serve, and why?

I’d arrange a Girls Night for Daenerys Targaryen, Elphaba, and Mary Poppins.

Daenerys, because seriously, have you ever met a lady more in need of a Girls’ Night? Elphaba because you just know she’d be a delightful grump about everything. Mary Poppins because she has good manners, and I feel like she’d make sure no one cheated (I’m looking at you, Dany!) Plus, she is a Time Lord so we needn’t be worried about the night getting away from us.

I’d serve a variety of takeout: pizza, Thai food, Chinese, Mexican, because you know Dany’s probably tired of all that ale and lamprey pie. Plus, I’m sure she gets asked all the time to just, you know, fly the dragons over to Dorne to “pick up” some Dornish wine “on the way.” I’d make sure there were vegetarian options since Elphaba might be sensitive about eating Animals. And tea, because it’s very British and so is Mary Poppins.

Because I’d want to keep it light, we’d play Risk. Because what’s lighter than a game of world conquest among ladies who ACTUALLY want to take over the world? :P (Well, except maybe Mary Poppins…)

After consoling Dany that no, there are NOT any Dragon troops, and telling Mary Poppins that no, we cannot just jump into a chalk drawing and pop out in Asia to surprise-attack Elphaba (who is still grumpy about there being no Oz territory), I’m pretty sure Elphaba would win since, according to Once Upon a Time canon, wicked always wins.

Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance
My plans for the future didn’t include falling for my professor.
But how could I help being struck speechless by the sexy smile and warm intelligence of Professor Shane Brooks?
What starts as wistful gazing from the back of the room leads to stolen touches that melt my core, and ends with a midnight encounter right on school grounds.
Those weren’t the kind of after-school activities I had in mind.
Will Shane hate himself for what we’ve done, or resent me for wanting it? I don’t know. I’m too lost in the heat of his body and the depths of his soul.
Sooner or later someone’s bound to find out about us, and it’s not going to be pretty.
The only question is, are we strong enough to survive it?
FORBIDDEN HEAT is a full-length standalone in the Firework Girls contemporary romance series. Jordyn White takes you on a delightful journey of secret rendezvous, nerdy soulmates, and transcendent love in this completely swoon-worthy forbidden romance.
The complete series:

EXCERPT:

I’ve been at the pool for so long, I’m starting to worry he’s not going to show. I’m in the water, but haven’t been swimming laps. If he comes, sees me, and decides to bolt again, I’ll only have one chance.
It’s nearly eleven when Professor Shane Brooks walks through the glass door. I’m low in the water, my head just above the surface, so he doesn’t see me.
When he deposits his towel on the concrete bench, I smoothly lift myself out of the pool. I don’t even look at him at first. I rise to my feet, the water streaming off my nearly naked body. I know what I look like in a bikini, and for the first time in my entire life, I’m using it to my advantage.
I tilt my head back, smoothing my hands along my hair to ease out the excess water. I’m well aware of the natural back arch that occurs when a woman brushes her hands over her hair. I don’t over-exaggerate the movement or try to thrust out my chest like a cheap porn star.
Instead I allow my body to flow gracefully and trust Sam’s white, string bikini do it’s magic.
When I straighten, Shane Brooks looks like a deer caught in headlights.
I smile knowingly. “Evening.”
He blinks.
He looks ready to bolt, so I stay where I am. “Would you mind grabbing my towel?” I gesture to the far end of the pool, away from the door, where my fluffy, white towel awaits, next to my neatly-folded clothes.
His gentlemanly instincts take over and he goes to retrieve my towel. I’m both amazed and exhilarated to see my devious plan is working. So far, at least. I’ve never set out to seduce a man I wasn’t already in a relationship with. Is this how Sam does it?
I take a few steps away from the edge of the pool, but wait patiently for him to get my towel and bring it back to me. He’s looking as sexy as he always does, the tee he’s wearing hinting at the firm chest underneath.
He holds out the towel at arm’s length, clearly trying not to get too close.
I take it and drape it over one shoulder as the water beads up on my skin. I allow our eyes to rest on each other as he stands there, seemingly unable to move. His eyes keep sneaking downward, onto my bare stomach, my breasts, and lower. He’s apparently doing this against his will because he keeps snapping his eyes back up to my face.
I raise one eyebrow and put my hands on my hips. “Aren’t you going to swim?”
His lips part like he’s going to say something. Instead he frowns and turns away from me.
As he approaches the bench, I quietly follow him. He pulls off his shirt. His back is broad and muscular, tapering to a trim waist. The sight of his bare back gets me slightly off balance for the first time since he came in. I’ve been acting like the one in control here, but the feelings he gives me are enough to knock me on my ass, if I’m not careful.
He drops his shirt next to his towel and turns to find I’m not where he left me. His lips part with surprise, but his eyes trail downward again. This time, he lets his gaze linger. And linger. Drinking me in.
I slowly take a step toward him. He’s looking in my eyes again.
I’m pulled into his gaze. We fall into that look, that deep look we’ve shared before and suddenly it’s all over for me too. Gone the cool seductress. I could no more hide my desire for him than I could stop myself from feeling it.
And Shane Brooks? He looks like he’s fighting a battle to resist partaking of a particularly delectable treat… and losing.

BOOK BLITZ for "Premonition (The Division, #1)" by Leigh Walker

Premonition
(The Division, #1)
by Leigh Walker
Publication date: July 19th, 2017
Genres: Romance, Science Fiction, Young Adult
When Riley heads off to boarding school for a summer work-study program, she knows it’ll be demanding. What she doesn’t expect? To be thrust into an intense physical training program described as special, exclusive and worst of all–top-secret. She signed up for tuition assistance, not to be held in a secret government facility for boot camp…
Welcome to The Division, the government agency that’s so classified, most United States senators have never heard of it.
The Division wants Riley bad, but she can’t figure out why. Skeptical of what she’s being told, Riley’s determined to uncover the truth. Boot camp is intense, physically and mentally draining. The upside? One of her new teammates is the cutest boy ever. Watching Finn hit the gym wearing a tank top doesn’t suck–although sometimes his brooding attitude does. But when training forces Riley to confront her tragic past, even Finn’s big biceps aren’t enough to make her want to stay…
Beware: The Division isn’t something you just walk away from. You better run.
Riley realizes her capabilities and strengths are greater than she’d ever imagined. But she also learns she wasn’t just chosen for this special program…
She was made for it.
--INTERVIEW WITH LEIGH WALKER--

Q: Wow, you’re interviewing yourself…how pompous!
Right? It’s to tell people more about the series, lol. Although I should admit that I normally talk to myself a lot, so this isn’t much of a departure.
Q: Tell us about “The Division” – it’s a bunch of teenagers with psychic powers, right? How did you get inspired?
Everyone on the team has psychic powers, yes. I was watching “Stranger Things” on Netflix and I WAS SO PSYCHED they were testing poor Eleven for psychic powers. But I was also like, YEEHAW! Because I LOVE psychic powers, and I can’t remember the last time I saw or read something that included them. I’ve always been obsessed by the concept, and there’s so many variations of powers, so many incarnations it can take… Anyway, after watching that show and having that reaction, I thought, other people must love this stuff, too, I can’t be the only one. So I wanted to give us all more!
Q: Tell us about the main character, Riley Payne.
Riley is a ‘normal’ girl dealing with a lot. Her father and sister died in a car accident and her mother started drinking heavily after it happened. She just wants to get out of her house and go to boarding school, but she gets more than she bargained for when she abruptly gets recruited into a secret agency…
Q: The ‘secret agency’ is The Division, correct?
Yes. It’s a secret cell of teenagers who were genetically engineered with psychic gifts. They work for the American government to combat domestic terrorism.
Riley thinks they’re nuts, of course. Until she unlocks her powers, then she’s blown away by what she can do.
Q: As the series goes on, you get into genetic engineering, fated love, eco-terrorism, loyalty, isolation, human nature, climate change…some pretty heavy themes. But would you describe the series as a difficult read?
I don’t think so, but certainly some parts were hard to write – like about Riley missing her dad and her sister. I still cry when I read those parts. And in the second book, an eco-terrorist is introduced, and some terrible things happen in the book. So yeah, there’s definitely a heaviness to some of what the characters are dealing with. But they’re teenagers, and their youth is sort of a tonic against everything they’re dealing with. They still care about their friends. They still want to hang out, tell stories, joke around. They are still very interested in falling in love. I think my writing style is naturally light and breezy, so it’s sort of a counterpoint to the storyline. If that makes sense, lol.
Q: What’s your favorite part of this series?
Riley and Finn’s relationship. They have so much on their plates, and they’re so young, but they genuinely care for each other in a way that makes me ache.
Q: What do you do when you’re not writing?
I have three large, unruly boys who like to play every sport and eat as much food as possible. When I’m not at my computer, I’m busy carting them around and grocery shopping. But I also love to relax with a great book or television show – I am currently completely obsessed with Riverdale, OMG!!!
Thanks for having me! Happy reading!!!

Dark proclivities, excess, and outlandish curiosities prevail in 1890's London. Around the city, a battle rages between the living and the dead. The Black Cross, tasked to keep the peace, are quickly losing ground.

Sixteen-year-old Willow Winchester, lives life as a boy called "Will" in his father's house of distinguished ladies, all but invisible to the wealthy Londoners who frequent. It's an easy ruse since his mother's death left his father's attention to fall upon business matters. But this isn't his only secret.

When Will unwittingly becomes involved in a Black Cross ghost hunt, his uncanny ability to sense supernatural beings comes to light and the Black Cross wants him in their service. Suddenly, Will's free to be himself.

But such freedom will come with a price, as Will fights for the acceptance of the only father he's ever known.

Now, part of a team of misfits and unlikely allies, Will finds he isn't the only one keeping secrets. Someone does not want him to uncover the truth about those who aren’t just missing from the world of the living, but missing from history itself.

Can he find the Missing before he ends up becoming one of them?

 ~AUTHOR INTERVIEW with Jerico Lenk~

 1) What gave you the inspiration for the storyline?

A conglomeration of books I’ve read (Anne Rice, Bloody Jack, The Meaning of Night, manga like Black Butler and D.Gray-Man, etc.), shows and movies I’ve watched (Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, etc.), and a writing prompt given to me by a friend that isn’t PG-13 enough to be appropriate for a blog post.

2) Are there any hidden themes in the book that you hope readers will discover?

Only the ones I didn’t even realize I stuck in there. Which happens. A lot.

3) Are any of the characters based on real people you know?

I think everyone can find a little bit of themselves in any character; fiction writing, a writer’s entire body of work, is often an accidental memoir. So, yes. Probably.

4) Who has influenced you most as a writer?

Anne Rice. Michael Cox. Chuck Palahniuk. Stephen King. Caseyvalhalla. Madeline Miller and Mary Renault.

5) If you could have any three literary characters over to your place for game night, who would you invite, what would you play, what would you serve, and why?

Marius de Romanus, Lestat de Lioncourt, and Louis de Pointe du Lac, to play something probably only Lestat really wants to play, though he might just talk most of the time. Obviously we’ll have someone there to snack on, or we’d have pre-funked. Oh, I forgot to mention, I’m Armand in this scenario.

BLOG TOUR & AUTHOR INTERVIEW with Lele Iturrioz for "Spring (Seasons Within, #2)"

Spring
(Seasons Within, #2)
by Lele Iturrioz
Published by: Acorn Publishing
Publication date: September 1st, 2017
Genres: Fantasy, Romance, YA
Gaia finally knows who she is and what she’s meant to do. It’s only been a few weeks since the earth element woke in her. Now that she’s embracing her role as Mother Nature, she must journey with her group of power-wielding friends in a race against time to get back home before Azazel reaches them.

With the awakening of a brand new element, her true past with Edan, a dangerous decision that could change the very essence of who she is, and a traitor among her group, the broken road back to Terra will be a test of strength. After all, even if Gaia doesn’t know it, war is closer than she thinks.

~AUTHOR INTERVIEW with Lele Iturrioz~

1) What gave you the inspiration for the storyline?

It initially started with a bunch of flying leafs. Then, after writing the idea of Gaia and her world, I created the storyline based on the seasons Gaia would need to survive before her Resurgence. From there, everything that I write is either to move the story forward or because it is something I would love to experience.

2) Are there any hidden themes in the book that you hope readers will discover?

There are many themes, many hints on future plot twists, a mix of cultures and the respect we should give Nature. Each name, each flower, everything means something. And as for what they mean… that’s for the readers to figure out.

3) Are any of the characters based on real people you know?

Priyam, Eva and Adriana were based on my best friends. Veter is just like my big brother and the twins resemble my little brother. The rest are a mix of everything. People I know, people I’ve seen, thoughts, dreams, fears, etc.

4) Who has influenced you most as a writer?

J.K. Rowling! I was almost Harry’s age when the book came out so every time I read it I felt identified with their thoughts, their friendship and their fears. It was as if the books were speaking to me, helping me go through my parents’ divorce. Since then, I always wanted to create stories full of fantasy and in a way, return the favor.

5) If you could have any three literary characters over to your place for game night, who would you invite, what would you play, what would you serve, and why?

I Love this question! I would invite Jon Snow, Albus Dumbledore and Edan Blau. We would play Settlers of Catan, eat some buffalo chicken wings with lots of French fries and see who the best conqueror is.

Author Bio:
Major geek by day, hermit writer by night! Love books, sugar gliders and everything that comes in a delicious taco.
I’m the author of the YA fantasy series, Seasons Within. I spend my time writing, planning on writing, reading, drinking coffee like there was no tomorrow, MMA and chilling with my friends and loved ones.

BOOK BLITZ for "Thunderstruck" by Brenda Drake

Thunderstruck
by Brenda Drake
Published by: Entangled Crave
Publication date: September 11th, 2017
Genres: Mystery, Mythology, Romance
Stevie Moon is famous…at least to the subscribers on her comic review vlog. At school, she’s as plain as the gray painted walls in the cafeteria. So when Blake, the hot new guy at school, shows an interest in her, she knows trouble when she sees it. Been there. And never doing it again.
As the son of the god Thor, Blake Foster’s been given an important mission—to recover the Norse god Heimdall’s sacred and powerful horn before someone uses it to herald in the destruction of the entire universe. But while Blake is great in a fight, the battlefield that is a high school’s social scene is another matter.
Blake knows his only choice is to team up with the adorable Stevie, but she’s not willing to give him even the time of day. He’ll need to woo the girl and find the horn if he hopes to win this war. Who better to tackle Stevie’s defenses than the demi-god of thunder?
“Every page brims with captivating Norse mythology and deliciously creative worldbuilding.” Pintip Dunn, New York Times bestselling author.

EXCERPT:

After disposing of the troll, Blake rushed to May’s house and showered. His thoughts kept going to Stevie. After hearing what Jörd said to him, he wanted to see her. The pull to go to her was too strong. He had no choice but to give in to it.
He climbed the tree outside Stevie’s room and sat on the branch. A blue light blinked on and off inside the room. He lightly tapped on the window. Muffled voices from within the room hummed against the glassed pane.
The curtain pushed aside. Amira was close to Stevie’s back when the curtain slid to the side. Stevie said something to Amira that Blake couldn’t hear through the thick glass. Amira turned away and dropped onto the bed. Stevie flipped the locks and opened the window.
“You scared the shit out of us,” Stevie snapped.
Amira crossed her arms. “Yeah, we’re watching scary movies here.”
Blake tried not to laugh, but he couldn’t hold it in. “My apologies. Can I have a moment alone with you, Stevie?”
“With me?” She glanced back.
“No.” Amira heaved a sigh. “With the other Stevie in the room.”
“Where do you want to go?”
He reached his hand out to her. “Out here is fine.”
She narrowed her gaze on him. “I don’t think so.”
“Come on,” he said. “It’s perfectly safe. This branch is thick. Trust me.”
“Stop being a chicken and go already. I have to pee.” Amira shuffled off.
Stevie hesitated before grabbing his hand and letting him guide her out the window and onto the branch. “This is crazy, you know that?”
“If you never throw caution to the wind, you’ll never be rewarded.” He sat on the branch and held her hand as she came down beside him. Her hand was warm and soft in his, and he wanted to hold it forever.
The loose pajama bottoms she wore had cats on them. Her pink tank top rode up a little and exposed a bit of her midriff. Her light-brown hair, the color of the acorns he’d gathered with his grandmother when he was a boy, rose in the wind behind her. Wide, dark eyes met his, her full lips parted in a smile.
“What did you want?” She glanced at the ground. “Wow, this is pretty high.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t let you fall.” He slid his hand across her lower back and held her waist. She shivered. “Are you cold?”
“A little,” she said.
“Hold on.” He let her go, shrugged off his hoodie, and draped it around her shoulders.
“Thank you.”
She held it closed at the zipper. He returned his arm around her, grasping her waist. She shuddered, and he smiled at her response to his touch.
“You didn’t answer me,” she said. “What did you want to talk to me about?”
“Actually, I’m not here to talk,” he said. “Have you ever had an urge to do something, and once it’s in your head, you can’t sleep or think until you do the thing?”
“I guess.” When she looked over at him, they locked eyes and an intensity passed between them like the energy he felt in the handle of his hammer after catching lightning with it. He noticed a faint scar just above her cupid’s bow.
“How did you get the scar?” he asked.
“Scar?” She glanced down at her chest.
“Not there,” he whispered, lifting her chin to look into her eyes. “On your lip.”
She touched it. “Oh this? It’s an embarrassing story. Let’s just say, I learned to watch where I’m walking, especially when poles are around.”
He chuckled. “I can imagine what happened.”
She lowered her head again, her feet kicking back and forth.
He decided to take his chance and cupped her face in his hands, bringing her face to his and kissing her. It was a gentle, wanting kiss. Her lips were soft and warm against his. She tasted like May’s brownies. When Stevie hadn’t responded to his kiss, he was about to release her, but then her lips began moving with his. He cradled her in his arms and they balanced together on the branch.

Author Bio:
Brenda Drake is a New York Times bestselling author of young adult fiction. She grew up the youngest of three children, an Air Force brat, and the continual new kid at school. Her fondest memories growing up is of her eccentric, Irish grandmother’s animated tales, which gave her a strong love for storytelling. So it was only fitting that she would choose to write stories with a bend toward the fantastical. When she’s not writing or hanging out with her family, she haunts libraries, bookstores, and coffee shops, or reads someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her disappointment).
