BOOK REVIEW for "The Hero (Hunter Circles, #4)" by Jessica Gunn

SYNOPSIS:

I’m Krystin Blackwood, and six months ago I almost killed everyone I cared about. 

I’ve been on my own ever since, watching my back for my team to exact revenge. But when the world I left comes knocking, I have no choice but to run back to my team… and deliver heart-breaking news. 

Apparently, Lady Azar has turned Riley into a demon and she’s moving up her plans to use him as a path to the City of Alzan. Unfortunately for the Fire Circle, without my help and destined magik, Alzan doesn’t stand a chance. And neither does Riley. 

So, despite my team’s hatred for me and my near-criminal status in the Fire Circle, they’ll have to trust me if we have any hope of stopping all planes of existence from imploding. Assuming we can all be civil long enough to do so. 

Somehow, I think that might be an issue.

REVIEW:

Once again, things look pretty hopeless at the beginning of this volume, and even more so at the end.  But there is a lot that occurs in between that both moves the action along, and reveals quite a bit about the various players, as well as the world in which they are ensnared.  New characters are introduced, some of whom may or may not be who they seem, and others who may or may not prove important to the final narrative.

Everyone seems to be fighting each other, and not just on Ben and Krystn's team.  Things between all of the Hunter Circles are tense, and it isn't really apparent what is going on with the players on the oppposing team.  No one is very willing to give much ground to work together and advance the main cause of either side.  Things are basically a muddled mess all the way around.  

However, it is becoming obvious that the final battle is near at hand in the story.  Hopefully, the next volume (the last in the series!) will provide all of the answers we've been waiting for.
